The new Jack is different in that they've discovered sampling, synths, tapes and drum machines. The sweeping, weeping strings are still there on most tracks, but the sound is much punchier. It isn't exactly their 'Kid A', but it is a very varied album ('DiscoCafeSociety', for instance, is like Denim doing electroclash, 'The Emperor of New London' sounds like Godspeed You Black Emperor trying to write a pop hit)(and succeeding).
Reynolds' best songs, their best, most emotional album. Superb stuff.

Where did you get a copy of the new SY? The website gives the US release date as July 2 and Europe and Japan as some time in June. What's it like? The cover art looks good and it's supposed to be more of a rock album, which I think might be a good thing.
