deadair (deadair), Thursday, 29 December 2005 11:53 (twenty years ago)

Motherfucker! That is awesome. But hey, if they are playing at all, I figure they GOTTA play here, no? I mean, dude lives here and all.

PS here = Seattle

Scott CE (Scott CE), Thursday, 29 December 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

Wait wait. According to the M's site, they are touring with Archer Prewitt.

http://www.the-ms.com/shows.html

Looks like someone at Ticketweb made a wishful typo.

Scott CE (Scott CE), Thursday, 29 December 2005 17:30 (twenty years ago)

But I sincerely hope to be proven wrong.

Scott CE (Scott CE), Thursday, 29 December 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

The last Crooked Fingers tour was as close to an Archers reunion as we're gonna get. It was a great show, though!!

The Milkmaid (of Human Kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 29 December 2005 17:38 (twenty years ago)

Last = Dignity & Shame, not solo EB.

The Milkmaid (of Human Kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 29 December 2005 17:38 (twenty years ago)

uhhhhh, consider me there?!

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Thursday, 29 December 2005 17:41 (twenty years ago)

it is indeed a misprint (sadly)

solace (solace), Thursday, 29 December 2005 19:14 (twenty years ago)

But the ticketweb link says the Archers show is on MARCH 23rd. So is it wrong on two counts, or is this Archer Prewitt thing just the craziest fucking coincidence ever?

I will keep hope alive; but not much of it.

Scott CE (Scott CE), Thursday, 29 December 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

You can catch EB on his solo acoustic tour -- the show I saw in Chicago was great!! Lotsa new songs, totally worth it even though I saw the full CF band tour earlier this year.

The Milkmaid (of Human Kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 29 December 2005 19:29 (twenty years ago)

WAAAAAAAAAAH. also, i was confused as to why an AOL reunion was happening in minneapolis and not say, chapel hill/asheville.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Thursday, 29 December 2005 19:38 (twenty years ago)

Scott, you are right, they do have the date messed up now. I emailed them the other day to correct the Archers of Loaf thing, but at least Archer's name has been fixed.

http://www.ticketweb.com/user/?region=mn&query=schedule&venue=400bar&next=642902

Ticketweb has errors fairly often (they fail to remove cancelled shows often times)

solace (solace), Thursday, 29 December 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

Curse you for getting my hopes briefly up, Matos!

Scott CE (Scott CE), Thursday, 29 December 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)

This thread hurt, you guys!

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 30 December 2005 02:59 (twenty years ago)

Firstly, I was going to curse geography from keeping me away from this! Secondly, I was going to seriously debate buying a plane ticket anyway.

Now all I get to do is curse a typo, and that just doesn't offer the same oomph!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 30 December 2005 02:59 (twenty years ago)

I was kinda hoping for a Picasso Trigger or Shiny Beast reunion, instead... but waaah waah.

dali madison's nut (donut), Friday, 30 December 2005 03:34 (twenty years ago)

Picasso Trigger was the shit early on, but the second album totally blew.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 30 December 2005 03:44 (twenty years ago)

can't imagine bachmann would want to offend whatever strange souls actually prefer crooked fingers to archers

da croupier, Sunday, 16 January 2011 13:03 (fifteen years ago)

Oh man!

When I saw Crooked Fingers about 5 years ago Matt came out on stage towards the end and they played a couple AoL songs. It was pretty sweet.

Man I used to love Archers of Loaf so much. I need to replace my old cassettes, not sure I even know where they are anymore. I used to get made fun of relentlessly in my design studio class because I had an Archers of Loaf sticker on my parallel bar and people wrongly assumed I was a big America On Line supporter because of the 'AOL' logo.

ugh me too

Last time I saw the full line-up was like late 90's NYC and it was completely amazing. I think that At the Drive-In opened that show but I could be making that up because it seems sort of odd.

ENBB, Monday, 17 January 2011 17:36 (fifteen years ago)

This is awesome -- EB goes to Taiwan for 6 mo., teaches EFL to some kids, hates it, finds renewed zeal for music. Love this guy!!

cool will watch that

kinda bummed they ruined the cover art on Vee Vee for the reissue

konybrony (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 14 March 2012 17:42 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I was a little disappointed in that too. I like the new one too, but it should have been like the cover for the inside booklet instead, imho.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:20 (fourteen years ago)

I'm about 5% disappointed they didn't play Fashion Bleeds or anything else off WTH at the reunion gig I saw.

the fey monster (ledge), Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:22 (fourteen years ago)

Wow, they didn't even do "White Trash Heroes"? Sucks.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:23 (fourteen years ago)

I caught two of their farewell 1998 shows and it was played at one and not the other, so I guess I should consider myself lucky.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:23 (fourteen years ago)

i think they played dead red eyes last year? not certain

mookieproof, Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)

i saw 2 gigs in chicago, first night they played dead red eyes, next night nothing off of white trash heroes, really wanted to hear "fashion bleeds"

wack nerd zinging in the dead of night (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:34 (fourteen years ago)

All The Nations Airports...that's one of the big momentum killing records. Coming after Vee Vee it sounded so flat

kornrulez6969, Friday, 1 June 2012 03:56 (fourteen years ago)

In 1996, yeah. Now I really love it.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 1 June 2012 04:21 (fourteen years ago)

always loved killer bees > rental sting

but yeah it's a wholly different thing really

mookieproof, Friday, 1 June 2012 04:27 (fourteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

was at the show in toronto last night. in addition to the age group that would have been in college or thereabouts during aol's heyday, there were a ton of young people (like, many looked like teenagers), and they were singing along to the songs! what's the deal! just the effect of the internet or...?

eric bachman seemed amused by the moshing and crowdsurfing and related antics.

dmr, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 16:21 (thirteen years ago)

I saw the Black Lips at a street fest in Chicago last Saturday.

Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 16:33 (thirteen years ago)

How was it? The last time I saw them live was a while ago. Probably like 2008.

dmr, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 16:48 (thirteen years ago)

they were fine, I never paid em much heed before. Preferred them to Man or Atro-Man, who went on just before. (but was most relieved it wasn't 103 degrees anymore)

Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 17:05 (thirteen years ago)

haha wow Man or Astro-Man are still around. now them I probably haven't seen play since 1996.

dmr, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 17:10 (thirteen years ago)

Archers were ok, but some of the "here's something from album 3" moments were weak, and the "here's something from album 4" moments even more so. They had to stop by 8, and when they went into "White Trash Heroes" with 4 minutes to go...well, it was a chance for the true fans to beat the crowds going home. Waved hi to morbz (who I believe also bailed during "WTH"). Dudes should have played "What Did You Expect?" or "Traffic"

Finally seeing them tonight (couldn't sort it out last year). FUCKIN STOKED

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 11 August 2012 18:38 (thirteen years ago)

They were loose and jovial tonight, and played just about every song I wanted to or thought I might hear. Except Wrong! How you gonna make me wait 14 years since I last saw you and then not play Wrong?

I'm kidding. I'll get over it. Just slightly bummed.

Late night tv musical performances get scrubbed pretty fast just as a rule. Most things that happened four months ago are gone already.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 23 February 2020 22:22 (six years ago)

Questlove said on twitter at one point that just about all musical performances are just uploaded for, like, a 2 week window, and then they disappear never to be seen again. Kinda sucks.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 23 February 2020 22:25 (six years ago)

yeah, i knew better than to rely on the NBC site, but was hoping maybe it would be on YouTube.

one time i found Nirvana on SNL but the uploader had rotated the video like 45 degrees so as not to be caught by ... uh ... whatever technology they use to monitor stuff like that.

thought maybe we could work together to find Archers on Fallon under the name "How to poach the perfect egg" or something. :)

alpine static, Monday, 24 February 2020 02:00 (six years ago)

anyway, this is a rare band that was cool back in the day but, imo, sounds even better now. stoked to have 'em back.
