Alex in NYC, see Disco Inferno's "It's a Kid's World". There's another song that samples it, too, but I can't think of it offhand.

I still do, but if the Igster is being used, I'd like to hear it. Disco Inferno can otherwise go jump in a massive pile of dung.
Has anyone used the intro bassline for Nilsson's "Jump into the Fire"?

No, but Paul Simon made a video for the song in '89 or so with an incredible acapella rap intro by Big Daddy Kane.

A little shred of it was used as a sort of between-sample bumper in the Beastie Boys' "Shake Your Rump", and I'm fairly sure a more substantial bit was used for Cornelius' "Heavy Metal Thunder".
And c'mon, there's like 10 different Van Halen tracks that need to be sampled rite now; no need for that-fuckery. (Oh, hey, how about the first several seconds of their version of "Dancing in the Streets"?)

I've got a self-produced song containing both of these (the Billy Joel break is from "Don't Ask Me Why".) The reason I've never uploaded that one is because, well, it contains samples of Billy Joel and Steve Miller. Not the coolest dudes to sample in the world.
I would also add:"Wounded Kite" by Pavement"Trying to Live My Life Without You" by Bob Seger"Murder" by Eleventh Dream DayAnd this one, written by Stevie Wonder and performed by Ms. Carole Kaye

Then there's The Upsetters "Bucky Skank" - especially that ascending glissando bassline.

if indeed it hasn't been, then it must be b/c mr. zappa was VERY much anti-sampling. as are the executors of his estate, apparently.
notwithstanding that little snag -- the intro to "inca roads" would also be great to use as a sample.
