New single from his upcoming album in November... it's Neptunes produced (which is obvious after 1 second). This song is fun as hell. I wish he didn't have the Crips lyrics (a'la the P.I.M.P. remix), but the whole thing's pretty damned catchy. Any other thoughts?

Sorry - didn't know about the resgistration thing. I got the MP3 off Catchdubs but thought I should give a legit link. Anyways, I like the white noise and tongue clicking! And I like that there's a little split second delay in the double vocal tracking of the "drop it like it's hot" part. I kind of wish the beat was used for a better song, because it's so goddamned catchy.

Well, it's the Neptunes, kinda goes without saying... turd polishers par excellence.

Not that I hate everything they've done by a long stretch. I love Kelis (the singles, mainly), despise them for shitting all over large parts of Kaleidoscope mind you (ok. you are a unique production team, remind me just one more time of your working name however & I will smash the record into tiny pieces).

It wouldn't kill Snoop to have something to say though would it? Ever?

Ack.. I forget lazy gangster chic excused because he has killer flow on the mic. And it's just a party record. See also Dre etc.

I don't really get on with hip-hop much it must be said.

Taking stuff as abstract/mimimal as this into the charts though is quite something. I just have to grit my teeth pretty hard to give them their dues. Grr.

Just when I thought the 'tunes couldn't take that whole Clipse style any further. Not one for the ages or anything, no great lines, just a hot beat and a cool ass chorus. I love the way Snoop sounds like a record slowing down and speeding up, not to mention the whole delay thing mentioned above. I'd put it in the same category as that first Young Gunz single (which had a similar feel) -- good party song, makes you feel bad if you're grooving to it in your car.

classic. i downloaded it nearly 2 months ago and it hasnt gotten old. even pharell's izzzzas don't bother me. hurting might be right that it is missing a great line from snoop. but really the music kinda obscures all the words for me anyway.

Heard a bit the other day. Like the Destiny's Child album, the single is totally unrepresentative of the rest of the album. It's mostly quite G-Funk in a very lazy way. I'm with Pitchfork to be honest.

The Pitchfork review is bogus becuase they are reviewing the leaked version of the album. The version in stores has a reshuffled tracklisting with about 9 tracks that weren't on the leaked version. "Stay" is NOT on the album. The Leaked Lil Jon song is not the same as the one on the album, etc.

Wow, really? Me doing that would probably lead to me hating the song. I mean, it's one thing to ignore the lyrics in a track, but ignoring the lyrics coming from a voice is something I'm not too sure I can do. And you know, I dug Snoop's early "cheeky gangsta next door" phase, but everything after that just seemed to be "hey, I'm Snoop, and my voice is so damn pleasant that I really don't have to even pretend to put some effort into my lyrics". Which he's right about, but only when he has great beats behind him (thus his stuff with the Neps is almost always grebt.)

Most of his albums are 'pretty good' I think - its kind of funny how looking back i never expected him to have such a consistent career. The only one I really don't like is his first no limit album, but the two after that are pretty good and although I wasn't wild about "Chuuch to the Palace" that album has some moments too, like "Batman and Robin" where Robin is played by the Lady of Rage.
