classic - tank's (were they nwobhm ?) 'filth hound of hades'
wasn't there a classic compilation with all the nwobhm bands on that sounds etc spunked themselves over ?
― a-33, Sunday, 1 December 2002 12:08 (twenty-three years ago)
Search: Iron Maiden - Soundhouse Tapes, Def Leppard - Def Leppard EP, Tygers of Pan Tang - Don't Touch Me There ... and, er, nothing else.

Nwobhm? Is that Welsh?
This thread is way too short!
― gnarly sceptre, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 09:17 (seventeen years ago)
If anything, I'd be grateful for NWOBHM recommendations based on sleeve art alone.

Satan's Court in the Act is so fucking great

I think the uniting thing I hear when you listen to many of these bands is the worship of the riff. In some ways this is when the riff becomes THE SONG and metal turned and went it's own way.
These bands just had boodles of cool riffs and since it is slightly before blinding speed over took the music, the riffs groove and there are bunches and bunches of them.

Otm. Neon knights is like my ideal tempo for 'fast metal'.

Raven's "Wiped Out" fucking RULES
― fuck the NRA (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 22 August 2018 01:30 (seven years ago)
Raven was a band I found from hearing them on the Metal Shop radio show. They would also have adds for their records always in Hit Parader.

the only record in my library i have tagged as "nwobhm" is "thy disciples" by sanctus. but honestly i think mostly i like them because they sound like they got tim blake in on keyboards so my opinion should perhaps not be trusted.
― Arch Bacon (rushomancy), Wednesday, 22 August 2018 02:11 (seven years ago)
i had never heard of sanctus as my dalliance with NWOBHM was over by 1981 but they sound like they got tim blake in on keyboards is selling them to me big time.
― stirmonster, Wednesday, 22 August 2018 02:59 (seven years ago)
for some reason Witchfinder General has really been hitting the spot lately, the recordings are kind of bad and raw in a cool way, they can't play *great* but it gives it a rawer energy almost punk by mistake or a bit motorhead but trying to be more dramatic metal
