None, as it started making me paranoid and withdrawn in my early twenties. I try it again maybe once a year, always has the same effect. Kind of a shame, as I used to love it and objectively believe it to be a better drug than alcohol.

yea it just feels like a pain nowadays to try to track down a dealer. seems like a lot of work. i suppose i could make a couple phone calls and it could happen but at this point i'm kind of just holding out for legalization unless i'm around people who offer it to me.

i'm telling you, mordy, i don't know how much an ounce is so i could be way off. i don't smoke a huge amount each night, but i don't drink, stopped emotional eating, and quit smoking cigs three months ago. thus, i vape. like clockwork.

and you're vaping too! there's no way you're vaping half an ounce a night. that's just insane.

like standard vape bowl, you'd probably have to grind and refill at least 10+ times in an evening to use half an ounce (i am completely making these numbers up but they sound right to me)

think u have to face the possibility that you are being outstoned here

getting a medical marijuana card has made getting regularly supplied with cheap weed such a easy thing it's unbelievable. I stop by the one run by a former neighbor maybe once a month, stock up and I'm in and out in like 15 minutes on my way home from work. it's nuts.

I average about 1.5 joints a day.. kinda too much. my soon to by wife is quitting her job next year so should probably cut that in half.. =(

yea medical is coming to MA soon. laws passed but it hasn't been implemented. how easy is it to get a card? (asking those of you in states that already have an infrastructure.) assuming you don't have an illness that actually would be helped be MM, what does it take to get a card?

i think it differs by state. i know NJ has much more rigid requirements for MM than CA. i'm not sure what the MA law looks like.

when i first started buying/smoking on the reg, my main drug buddy at the rec shop where we both worked would always help out one of our middle aged toker/customers to score small amounts of decent weed. He didn't do it for personal gain, but out of a sense of smoking-karmic-togetherness, and that's always stuck w/ me.

i am now that middle aged toker and eternally grateful to the young scamps who help me out w decent weed etc.

We had a few legal things delivered, almost as a lark, while in San Francisco in June. It "accidentally" got packed and traveled back to Virginia with us.

Two joints and two chocolate bars have lasted us, um, four months. There's actually still some of both left! With modern stuff it just doesn't take very much to provide a satisfactory excursion - after dinner, at a concert, on a day off, while playing music with friends. I have found myself much more relaxed, much more able to just enjoy, without getting all furtive and paranoid and whatnot.

Def. superior to the sketchy college using pattern, where you had to know somebody who knew somebody and you may have had to go to an unfamiliar part of town and hand money to people you didn't know and then you had to worry about the RA and the police and the non-chill roommate etc. etc. etc.

Also, I have always hated only having access to drugs when you're at a party and you need to be social, because I am way introverted and mostly just want to go home and curl up in my own blankie and have my own books and records and guitars and drinks and foods and preferred sexual partner. Doing drugs at parties just makes me tired and cranky.

I haven't been smoking (actually, vaping) much, it's been hard to time given how little free time I have these days - I actually can't sleep well unless I've passed back into pretty much sober which means I have to either smoke early and have everything that I needed to get done done or I have to stay up extra late.

was playing poker at a buddy's place the other night and he had a vape pen except it was a dabbing pen with shatter in it. i couldn't bring myself to try it because i was trying to win money (and i did, $15 canadian, woo) but i was certainly curious.

i'm approaching a quarter a week lately and i'm not ~particularly~ happy about it..

i'm doing a PhD and kept having to mini-quit a day or two before exams but then i would get insomnia, so i just stopped cold and now it's been a month and i'm back to reading to put me to sleep

yeah. the problem is pretty much that i'm not working as much these days and just have tons of time at home where all i wanna do is get stoned and listen to records. not the worst, but it's not a cheap habit.

i'm down to about a hit or two a night / 5 or 6 nights of the week

if i'm hanging w/ other folks it might be more

definitely there are diminishing returns after more than 3 hits ime. i try to maintain a low enough tolerance such that taking one hit will usually be sufficient for a nice head change

btw what is "shatter?" this new world of oils, tinctures, concentrates and tbh commercially-made edibles is quite foreign to me

shatter is just a form of extract that has gone through a lot of filtration to get it down to the purest form. It needs to be dabbed with a rig , approach with caution. I've only done it a few times , the last one was when i went to a friends house for a quick visit and ended up stuck on his couch for about 4 hours after taking one dab.

the actual buds that have today are super potent and have awesome flavors so i have no need for dabbing. Vape pens however are super convenient and discreet so i usually have one of those handy to supplement the bud.

haha yeah, but the unstated part of that was that i rarely see the drunk Woo people, and when i do it's because i'm in a part of town late at night with a lot of bar, or at a baseball game. so even though they are very annoying, it ends up being a tiny bit of life, easily avoided. and i'm guessing that the coughing weedbros are even rarer of a sight. like maybe avoid pearl street in boulder and watch out if you're walking around the 420 Den in denver but other than that...

however, i am willing to be convinced of the existence of hordes of street prowling weedbros! basically i'm saying can i be shown pics of weirdos who might love...i can't finish this. i try to join in on pun culture in ILX but i can't. 420 forever.

I don't know what ums is envisioning, but my experience in legal states is not roaming packs of weedbros, but people stepping out of a bar to have a drag or two on a pen, or passing a small pipe for a minute before a show, or getting really wild by puffing a joint before getting on the bus after work.

I admit that on more than one occasion I have eaten half a cookie or a single mint before watching a band or movie, and then terrorised the streets by walking alone back to where I was staying #partoftheproblem

I swear I saw/smelled LESS public weed smoking after it was legalized in WA than before. But I smelled unsmoked weed a lot more, like the guy in line in front of you at the grocery store who obviously had an incredibly smelly bud in his jacket. I moved to a medical-only state this summer and see much more casual public smoking here for sure.

My (university) students also all seemed to stop wearing obvious weed-related clothing - it wasn't edgy to have a shirt that with a pot leaf or the word DAB on it anymore, so it was like wearing a shirt that said BEER on it and expecting everyone to be stoked about it.

There were a ton more people who used it and were open about it though, like older people who hadn't smoked in years, or some of my wife's grad students who were super nerds and had never used it before but would casually mention how they all had edibles and a bottle of wine and watched a movie over the weekend.

i respect this crowd and i also feel so sorry for them. they wanted to smoke, obviously, but didn't want to deal with the hassle of finding it and/or didn't want to break the law. i understand this lawful approach but think about how many really boring saturday nights could have been at least slightly mitigated

In June we still needed a "medical card," which could be arranged online for a trifling fee from a very cooperative "doctor" in less than an hour.

As I understand it, that step won't be necessary starting in January.

stores will be legal, not sure how many will be ready to go on the 1st of January

(in LA, it's hard to go too many blocks without seeing a sign for a weed doctor: walk in, pay c.$30, get prescription valid for 1 year. some will require proof of in-state address.)
