ABC's developing a comedy starring Michael Bolton

Michael Bolton's set to star in a comedy that's in development at ABC - and if that seems like an odd match, then you haven't been paying attention.

According to Deadline, Bolton has been refining his comedic timing with appearances on "Saturday Night Live" and "Two and a Half Men," and this new opportunity would see him portray a fictional version of himself.

Called "Michael Bolton's Daughter Is Destroying My Life," the half-hour sitcom centers on a young upstart writer who takes a job in "the big city" as Bolton's social media manager, but is thrown for a loop working for the singer-songwriter and his "wild child" daughter.

The concept is courtesy of "Go On" actress Allison Miller, and the script will be written by Tami Sagher, who will also executive produce along with Bolton and others.

I guess the title 'Michael Bolton's Mid Life Crisis Vanity Project' was focus group tested and found to be too unwieldy.

doesn't really seem that different from dawson's role in (the surprisingly funny) don't trust the b in apt 23. but i guess dawson is an actor of sorts

I can think of ways that this could turn into the best show of all time, but it is not likely to go down those routes

I was picturing this show in my mind and it seemed pretty funny but I was confused when I clicked on that link and saw what Bolton looked like. For some reason I forgot what he looks like and was accidentally picturing Kenny G instead.

the way I envision this show, it starts out as a normal sitcom and slowly devolves into something like "I'm with busey"

only with Gary Busey replaced with... Michael Bolton's daughter?

ooh or the whole show has an abstract timeline, I like that

The whole show uses a flashback narrative device like 'How I Met Your Mother', except Bolton is explaining to police the years long sequence of events that led up to him murdering his daughter.

it's not hard to think of situations where adding michael bolton would make the situation funnier, which is why it's tragic that this show won't be funny. I'm not sure they appreciate what's funny about michael bolton.

what if michael bolton and bill magill were neighbors and bill was always getting mad cause bolton would be pulling crazy schemes

Magill: "Bolton, I'm fed up with you and your crazy schemes you keep pulling."
Bolton: "Bill, don't get mad. EVERYBODY'S CRAZY!"

That could be like a running joke that happens at the end of every episode. Then they both break the fourth wall and look at the camera FREEZE FRAME roll credits.
