I’m still not caring about the Northern Ireland protocol arguments. If you leave the EU single market, you have to accept that a border is an inevitable consequence. Get over it.

I’m finding myself unable to care about literally anyone’s unsolicited opinion on anything. I was waiting in my car the other day and I could hear some guy banging on about some opinion or other he had about the layout of the parking lot. I nearly got out & said “Nobody gives a shit what you think about this or anything” but then I figured discretion is the better part of not getting punched.

hardcore, I have some similar feelings— recently been finding myself disgusted at people who feel the need to share everything about themselves and their opinions on the internet. Truly glad that I still have the inner resources to not do that any longer, as I certainly used to be one of these people.

I legitimately care about the issues everyone's extrapolating from it, and couldn't care less about the story at the center of it.

yes, Depp being framed as a 'hero for abuse victims' amidst the backdrop of Ann Coulter cheering the death of #MeToo is pretty telling.

Kate Bush
― joygoat, Monday, 6 June 2022 16:46 (one year ago) link
I like Kate Bush alright; I don't care about some TV show using a song, and knowing how Spotify et al pay the artists, she'll probably net around $18 from this new attention
― Andy the Grasshopper, Monday, 6 June 2022 17:47 (one year ago) link
Nah, she'll be running up that bill.
― Eggs Benedick (Eric H.), Monday, 6 June 2022 17:52 (one year ago) link
wouldn't she make money off of the licensing being that she was the sole songwriter?
― Gymnopédie Pablo (Neanderthal), Monday, 6 June 2022 17:53 (one year ago) link
Yeah, she'll make plenty from the actual sync/master for the show itself.. I'm talking about the new streaming attention, she won't make jack shit

the most otm comment I read on this was someone saying they are stuck between finding it hilarious that RoI are beating Scotland 3-0 and anger at them for clearly trying too hard to win a Nations League fixture.

The song is now a No. 1 in the UK, so we've had another week of this shite making the national news when there's a cost of living crisis, rail strikes, political resignations, the UK trying to dump refugees in the middle of Africa, Northern Ireland about to go tits up, a war in Europe etc.

seeing old wankers on Murdoch/BBC media programs where the entertainment coverage is always dismal and they are doing 5 minute reports on this and bluffing that they are both massive Kate Bush fans and they absolutely love the awful netflix show as well is quite annoying tbh. Especially after 5th or 6th time.

Good thing you don't live in America where the BBC World service is about as good as tv news gets and items on local/regional news shows might include what's new on the menu at Dunkin Donuts or now streaming on Disney Plus.

BBC WS still occasionally has some decent programs and reports from other parts of the world, but I switch over when they broadcast either NPR shite or news reports on the oh so exciting commercial synergy between Kate Bush and some fucking shite netflix series.
