How do these people start conversations? You don't just launch right into the meaning of life during an elevator ride (unless something goes horribly wrong with the elevator itself).

i read those things as excuses for social ineptitude rather than descriptions of how they actually behave

Performative wackiness is super conventional. Whenever someone uses a bumpersticker or refrigerator magnet or social media meme to say "look at me, I'm so DIFFERENT and WEIRD," I suspect they are way more boring than people who think they're boring.

hmm I kinda agree with that though

not the phrasing, not the weird image, not the unrelated imperative at the end, but the general idea that (over)thinking is overrated and doing stuff that keeps your mind off things is often beneficial - this seems to align with a lot of selfhelp lit/buddhism etc

but I guess if you read the caption politically or in an anti-intellectual context, it seems... less clever
