It's the Cycle of Morbs (Morbstruation?):

Dr. Morbius ramps up the snippy, mean, name-calling, insulting posts.
People get annoyed and call him out (or he gets SBed).
If he's still around, he makes some self-effacing comments but never actually apologizes or acknowledges being a utter jerk.
Everybody falls all over themselves to pat Morbs on the head reassuringly and talk about how much they love his irascible on-line persona or how he's actually different IRL.

Hahaha obv we need independent conformation to solve this mystery. I think it was before people even headed to the show iirc. Maybe that helps? Although now I am afraid that laurel etc are going to show up and say wtf I have never met you freak and ilx is going to intervention me.

Overall, ILX has a pretty KIP vibe.

His "schtick" is more at home on SA or some parts Reddit - and at least there he would be downvoted to oblivion.

man, not even close imo. there have been far worse (and there still are worse.) not to imply morbs is bad, i love him deeply tbqf.

there's something endearing (if exhaustingly predictable) about morb's endless stream of crotchet. he hit me, and it felt like a kiss.

morbs is curmudgeonly, rarely lovely, but I enjoy him nonetheless

I went OTT in this thread and started getting way into my own opinions and acting like I'm vested w/ some license to speak truth to ding-dongery. This is an unusually civil, smart, and accepting part of the internet and my continuing complaint isn't doing anything to further the positive vibe. I promise to cool it w/ the Morbius policing and focus more on the aspects of ILX I value.
