Sticklebricks, classic or dud?

Someone reminded me of them today - bobbly brick things you stuck together, like Lego but covered in little sticks of plastic that wedged together. Classic 3+ building material or clunky unversatile dud?

Alternatively, Sticklebricks vs Lego - FITE!

The main problem with Sticklebricks is that if you stick two together without any of the two bricks jutting out a bit, then it is incredibly difficult to take them apart. You need to have some kind of leverage to pull them away from each other, whereas with Lego this problem rarely happens. So perhaps a dud.

Oh it is no contest with Lego at all - Sticklebricks were very clumsy and with very small potential and variety. Lego was great, though nowadays you seem to just purchase all the special items rather than build approximations creatively.

not necessarily related, but yay for brio! still charming, as opposed to "shall we play a game dave" hyper-programmable futuro-lego.

Nice try sticklebricks...but no cigar.

The pushing together and pulling apart of sticklebricks felt better than any kind of lego activity though admittedly there was fuck all that could be 'built' with them.

I love sticklebricks! Classic! And they tickled! Lego was always too cold and functional. And you could make sticklebrick hedgehogs.

lego hurt more if you accidentally stood on it in your bare feet, but you could make so much more with it that it wins anyway.

nine months pass...
My son has just been given some Stickle Bricks for his (second) birthday, and they're great. Probably better suited than lego to little hands, and I'm enjoying them even more than him.

Also, light enought that they don't hurt when they're thrown at you.
