Even worse, the crowd gasp. I'll see if I can find an example.
Also there is a dolphin noise that is used all the time... really how hard is it for movie or commercial makers to make their own (whichever) sound?

Everytime you hear the Wilhelm scream, it's on purpose. It's a time-honored Hollywood tradition. Probably the same for the dolphin noise and the cheap crowd gasp. Directors, editors and sound editors love in-jokes.

There was also that weird snippet of canned laughter a lot of 60s sitcoms like Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie seemed to use, where you could hear this one guy yelp in a distinctive way that made the re-used laughter so obvious.
