Howsabout this for a carnivorous drunk?

Bullshot
One for the morning after! Like the Bloody Mary, the Bullshot is a great combination of vodka with savoury flavours. If you want to spice it up, try it with pepper vodka instead. Mix plenty of ice cubes, 1 shot of vodka and 3 shots of clear beef bouillon. Add a dash of lemon juice and Worcester Sauce, and a pinch of celery salt. Shake and strain into a ice-filled tumbler. Decorate with a slice of lemon.

Meaty! In absence of bouillon, could you use bovril?

robster (robster), Friday, 21 May 2004 10:58 (twenty years ago) link

bullshots are wicked, really really good and savoury. My great uncle used to have one at bedtime.

this may help explain his terrible gout

chris (chris), Friday, 21 May 2004 10:59 (twenty years ago) link

I think I have a can of bouillon at the back of the cupboard at home. Mmmm boozy soup. Anyway, as you were.

Like, the best way to get to the town hall round the one-way system, sort of thing?

Archel (Archel), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:22 (twenty years ago) link

Oh god, he's back.

___ (___), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:24 (twenty years ago) link

Ooh, is it like Groundhog Day?

Archel (Archel), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:34 (twenty years ago) link

He keeps coming into the pub trying to sell stuff. Last time it was midget porn. He told us it was in short supply.

___ (___), Friday, 21 May 2004 13:50 (twenty years ago) link

On that note, I'll have an expresso and a shot of marc, please. Any gitane in this place? I'm feeling dirty and surly as a French truck driver.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:16 (twenty years ago) link

I read this thread in a blur. Something about buckshot monkeys?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:20 (twenty years ago) link

I think you caught the drift of it, ned.

___ (___), Friday, 21 May 2004 14:25 (twenty years ago) link

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 21 May 2004 18:00 (twenty years ago) link

I'm here and I've just noticed a little lit up plastic box on the bar containing......a jolly German. Yet this is not a Sam Smiths pub. How can this be???

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 21 May 2004 19:21 (twenty years ago) link

A jolly German?

Ya, ein gemutlichkeit Deutchlander, dat is right. In the meantime it is 5:00 p.m. where I am, so I would like a bottle of your best Sekt as an aperitif, danke schoen.

I believe I'll have a Sapphire Gibson up, if you don't mind. Hello? Now, what's the right rhythm for the Martini again?

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 21 May 2004 21:47 (twenty years ago) link

Uhhhhrrr... morning all, its 9.40 on a saturday morning, and me? I need me a caffe corretto, stat.
(For the uninitiated, this is an espresso coffee with a shot of what you like - rum, wisky, marsala, sherry, whatever). That should wake me up, I have to go pay the rent now, its a week overdue :/

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 21 May 2004 22:43 (twenty years ago) link

Wow, Trayce. Are you in Australia? I haven't even left work yet. Try this marc in your coffee. It's France's version of Grappa. Woke you up, didn't it. Sorry.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 21 May 2004 22:48 (twenty years ago) link

I am yeah. I am also not usually up that early on a weekend, haha! But I had errands. It turned out to be very nice, walking along smelling coffee and baking and deli smells and enjoying the nice autumn day.

Wooohhh grappa in espresso? Thatd put hair on me chest! :/

I'll have a mojito thanks and a seat by myself in the darkened corner to the left of the bar.
