Cheers! If you hit the "edit" button on the top right of the start screen, a delete button will appear next to the bookmarks. You can also just swipe right-to-left on the bookmark you want to delete.

new version up now, should fix yr problem

stet, Tuesday, 9 February 2010 23:40 (fourteen years ago) link

I updated and now bookmarks are not working. Also, I can't post at all, it says for unknown reasons.

Jeff, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 01:32 (fourteen years ago) link

Sounds like the cache is corrupted: open the accounts pane (gear icon on home screen) and log in again to clear them all. If that doesn't work, reinstalling definitely should. (Nothing's changed in bookmarks, or posting)

stet, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 01:37 (fourteen years ago) link

Seems to have worked. Thanks!

Jeff, Wednesday, 10 February 2010 02:37 (fourteen years ago) link

phew! sorry bout that.

iPad version coming soon???

Jeff, Friday, 2 April 2010 15:56 (fourteen years ago) link

I had a play with one, but it looks weird -- and ILX in Safari on the iPad is pretty top. Will have a look again when I actually get an iPad.

four weeks pass...

Quick question: if I delete Zing Touch and then download it again, will I have to pay for it again?

I ask because something went horribly wrong with it a few weeks ago, and since no one else has mentioned it, I'm assuming it's something with my phone and I need to reinstall it. All my bookmarks were deleted, and whenever I try to add a new one, the app crashes. Also, it won't let me post new messages.

clear your cache

to answer the other question, as long as you make the 'purchase' from the same account you originally bought it with, you won't be charged again

The one problem I have with it is that 77 doesn't show up in the list of boards. (Yes, I am a member. )

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Friday, 30 April 2010 04:20 (thirteen years ago) link

Try logging in again (same procedure as above). The board list is saved to make startup quicker, so it doesn't notice new boards being added to your account very often.

stet, Friday, 30 April 2010 10:18 (thirteen years ago) link

That worked. Thanks.

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Friday, 30 April 2010 13:36 (thirteen years ago) link

i just downloaded this. so much better than in safari BUT whenever i bookmark it crashes (closes and returns to iphone app page) and doesn't save the bookmark. someone might have mentioned this already but this thread tl;dr.

I may be missing something obvious, but can you create topics using the app?

Jeff, Sunday, 2 May 2010 06:36 (thirteen years ago) link

sunny successor: Do you have traditional bookmarking set? The app needs to use the new-style bookmarks, and might be crashing if it doesn't find them. To check, go into Preferences (on the site itself) and make sure "Use traditional bookmarks" is *not* ticked.

Jeff: Not yet -- that and search are my next big to-dos after multitasking (which is just about done)

stet, Sunday, 2 May 2010 10:16 (thirteen years ago) link

stet, not zing related but figured this thread has your attention :) is there any easy way to incorporate spoiler support for ilx (e.g. highlight text to reveal, otherwise it's a block of black chars)

cozen, Sunday, 2 May 2010 21:25 (thirteen years ago) link

Hey that's a great idea. Will think.

stet, Monday, 3 May 2010 11:26 (thirteen years ago) link

stet i did indeed have trad bmking set. ill try it again today/. thanks!!

no more springs no more summers no more falls (sunny successor), Monday, 3 May 2010 12:51 (thirteen years ago) link

....but finish the new topics feature first. (I almost called this the "ask a question" feature. I've been on ILX way too long. ) That's the really important thing.

stet, Monday, 14 June 2010 20:31 (thirteen years ago) link

I see what this is (Local Garda), Monday, 14 June 2010 20:34 (thirteen years ago) link

It'll be the cache; I don't know what's causing it but I'll have a look just now.

To fix: Press the gear icon on the home page, and then press login.

Sorry, quick question -- is tere a search feature in this? If so, I can't find it. Other than that, love it.

Any plans for an Android app, Stet? Way more Androids than iPhones in the UK (although admittedly these stats don't take into account the iPod Touch, or the probability that ILX users skew Apple-wards).

Background Zombie (CharlieNo4), Saturday, 19 June 2010 10:10 (thirteen years ago) link

Sunny: that feature's in there, sort-of: hit "edit" on the home screen and delete the boards you don't care about and it'll hide them from SNA too. (Do you just want to hide from SNA and still keep them on the list?)

Android: Ken C was talking about looking at doing one. I'm probably not: don't have one and don't know how to code for it!

stet, Saturday, 19 June 2010 12:23 (thirteen years ago) link

Interesting. Visits to ILX via mobiles in last two weeks (doesn't include Zing visits)
1. iPhone 8,162
2. iPod 2,516
3. Android 1,968
4. iPad 1,185
5. BlackBerry 1,036

Way more Androids than iPhones in the UK

Have you got a link for this one? It sounds wrong to me.

JimD, Saturday, 19 June 2010 16:55 (thirteen years ago) link

some numbers here, mostly US --- http://stuff.tv/news/By-numbers-Android-vs-iPhone/14488/

1 in 5 – ratio of new smartphones sold on contract in the UK that use Android, according to GfK.

slow motion hair ruffle (onimo), Saturday, 19 June 2010 18:49 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, but

51 million – iPhones sold worldwide since Apple launched the device in 2007. Android has only been around since October 2008, but sales figures published in February 2010 claim almost 8.5 million Android phones had been sold up to that point.

JimD, Saturday, 19 June 2010 19:13 (thirteen years ago) link

Uh what's the point of the argument either way? Unless someone buys stet an android phone.

Jeff, Saturday, 19 June 2010 20:18 (thirteen years ago) link

:(
I searched for "zing lite android" and thought i was in luck.

got that yesterday but it happened like once

never had that. stet are you planning on a search function?

post class A nasal drip (sunny successor), Saturday, 26 June 2010 03:03 (thirteen years ago) link

I am, but not for the next version. I've got a new version almost ready to send to you and the other testers with multitasking, starting new threads and a tonne of other fixes almost ready to go, probably tomorrow.

Search is harder because it will take a load of server-side stuff as well.
