Zing Touch: ILX now ON IPHONE (and ipod tooches too)

Could there be a better way to signify which threads are polls? I know it says poll there, but it all just blends in with the rest of the text.

Gbx: what do you mean about posting from the bottom? I can't make it do what you're saying. I have an idea what it could be though, I'll change it and it see if it fixes it for you.

The buttons: yeah, I don't know where to put them! If they're in a bar you only get one line of text, which is crap. You're not allowed put extra buttons in the navbar at the top, either. Am open to ideas...

(cutty: lol app of shame (every iPhone dev I know has one) TheLovecalc was the first app I ever wrote for the Mac, when I was 13 and thought you could impress girls with computers. So I made it my first iPhone app to try out the store and ads etc.)

Jeff: yeah, I could add a poll badge to the thread line (like the favicon on the boards page), would that be enough? Might make that a pref though.

from the bottom: if i scroll the thread all the way to the last post, and hit the box in the upper right hand corner to post, the posting box is different from what i get if i hit the button half way down the thread

You know the ad stats on lovecalc are scary. Some people are opening it hundreds of times a day

Xp how many lines of text can you see when the box opens fucked up? (really sorry you're seeing this btw, will try to fix asap if I can work out what it is)

ok weird it shows what looks to be like two lines of text but when i type nothing shows up. UNLESS: i switch to normal view, at which point the italic/bold/more bar disappears completely. THEN, if i switch back to landscape, the cursor is in the right spot, and i can see what i'm typing

however: even tho it doesn't show what i'm typing, it works (cf my post upthread "I'm posting sideways")

What model iPhone/iPod is this?

Same as mine. I think I know what the problem is, though: it's to do with it checking what the phone's orientation is.

It sounds like for some reason your accelerometer isn't always reporting which way up your phone is, it's just reporting the changes. (If i'm right, scrolling to the bottom in portrait, opening the compose window and then turning to landscape should work right)

I'll try and write around it.

Xp: yeah the italic bar only shows up in portrait mode (no room in landscape).

ah, that's the thing. when I hit BM and then open up a response window in landscape, the italic bar IS there and it obscures what I'm writing.

Ah! That should never happen! WTF? It might be worth trying to reinstall it from the store (you won't get charged again), because that's well wrong.

Sorry if this has been asked, but how do I get rid of a bookmark accidentally set on a thread I'm not interested in following? Otherwise completely love Zing and hope you enjoyed a pint stet.

Cheers! If you hit the "edit" button on the top right of the start screen, a delete button will appear next to the bookmarks. You can also just swipe right-to-left on the bookmark you want to delete.

Sounds like the cache is corrupted: open the accounts pane (gear icon on home screen) and log in again to clear them all. If that doesn't work, reinstalling definitely should. (Nothing's changed in bookmarks, or posting)

I had a play with one, but it looks weird -- and ILX in Safari on the iPad is pretty top. Will have a look again when I actually get an iPad.

Quick question: if I delete Zing Touch and then download it again, will I have to pay for it again?

I ask because something went horribly wrong with it a few weeks ago, and since no one else has mentioned it, I'm assuming it's something with my phone and I need to reinstall it. All my bookmarks were deleted, and whenever I try to add a new one, the app crashes. Also, it won't let me post new messages.

The one problem I have with it is that 77 doesn't show up in the list of boards. (Yes, I am a member. )

Try logging in again (same procedure as above). The board list is saved to make startup quicker, so it doesn't notice new boards being added to your account very often.

i just downloaded this. so much better than in safari BUT whenever i bookmark it crashes (closes and returns to iphone app page) and doesn't save the bookmark. someone might have mentioned this already but this thread tl;dr.

I may be missing something obvious, but can you create topics using the app?

sunny successor: Do you have traditional bookmarking set? The app needs to use the new-style bookmarks, and might be crashing if it doesn't find them. To check, go into Preferences (on the site itself) and make sure "Use traditional bookmarks" is *not* ticked.

Jeff: Not yet -- that and search are my next big to-dos after multitasking (which is just about done)

stet, not zing related but figured this thread has your attention :) is there any easy way to incorporate spoiler support for ilx (e.g. highlight text to reveal, otherwise it's a block of black chars)
