one year passes...
he wandered the streets of the richmond with his afterschool friends as a teen gazing fearfully at anton lavey's church of satan, but does he still read ILX?

He's been on lately, and he's been very wise and very readable and very funny-are you "in touch" with him, gygax!?

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 13 November 2003 21:15 (twenty years ago) link

On a very special episode of Touched by a Gygax:

Alex is very much ALIVE and still reading ILX! He's been blocked from AIM and e-mail at work though (along with everyone else at his stupid controlling job). Unfortunately Anton's house is gone and thus provokes little fear (or wonder) from the children in his former neighborhood. He may be at the Rapture show tonite btw (depends on when he gets off work and whether or not it's sold out.) He's very touched to be thought of so well. Maybe he will see the SF ILX gang there (or if not at the future Matos in SF FAP).

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 13 November 2003 21:17 (twenty years ago) link

I realize that episode has very little in way of a plot. Sorry folks.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 13 November 2003 21:18 (twenty years ago) link

I miss Alex in SF!! Alex!! COME BACK

Mandee, Thursday, 13 November 2003 22:34 (twenty years ago) link

If someone needs to reach me now (at work) (and I haven't gotten any e-mail this afternoon) mail can to be sent to clobberthesaurusNOSPAM@graffiti.net (with NOSPAM removed obviously). For those whose e-mail (yahoo, hotmail) are jammed at work, Graffiti.net is a very nice resource (unfortunately, it has an awful interface.)

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 13 November 2003 23:57 (twenty years ago) link

Got it, but I won't be able to make it. It'll be at least 10pm before I can flee work. Thanks for the invite though. And maybe I'll see y'all at the show.

Hahaha you GAVE HEAT FIVE STARS ADAM! WTF is wrong with you!?!?!?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:06 (nineteen years ago) link

GREAT movie

just adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:06 (nineteen years ago) link

I have been ratin movies ALL afternoon! Keep checking!

just adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:07 (nineteen years ago) link

Heat has a worse ending than Old Boy! Don't you care what happens in the last half hour of films, Adam?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:08 (nineteen years ago) link

alex thinks Kobe Bryant's accuser is lying and Michael Jackson is innocent!

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Love the ending to Heat! Love (almost) all films with airports in them!

just adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:09 (nineteen years ago) link

I like HEAT!

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Heat is a great movie, though

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Hahaha now wait a second I didn't say that exactly.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Heat is an okay movie right up until the point where Robert DeNiro does something totally ridiculously stupid and out of character and then it just descends into nonsense. Al Pacino also pretty much sucks in it, as usual.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:11 (nineteen years ago) link

Al Pacino also pretty much sucks in it, as usual.

Okay, FUCK you!

just adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:12 (nineteen years ago) link

The guy only knows how to overact Adam. He chews up scenery like I chew bubblegum (loudly with lots of smacking noises.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:13 (nineteen years ago) link

"She's got a big ass, and you got your head ALL THE WAY UP IT!!!!!"

That's one of my favorite lines from Heat.

just adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:15 (nineteen years ago) link

It is 100% pure Pacino awesomeness.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:22 (nineteen years ago) link

The last time I watched Heat, I rewound that particular line probably 10x.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:22 (nineteen years ago) link

Ick.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:23 (nineteen years ago) link

I lov you gygax!

just adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:24 (nineteen years ago) link

If nobody ever overacted and said things like this, life would be no fun at all!

Pacino exists for this purpose.

just adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:25 (nineteen years ago) link

:-D

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:25 (nineteen years ago) link

If Al Pacino wasn't ruining potentially good movies with his craptastic acting I'd be more forgiving. If he only played drill sergeants or was in Look Who's Talking for example or maybe playing Roy Cohn (although FUCK isn't there a jew somewhere who could have played the fucking guy.) But he kills films. He's a long way from The Godfather.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:28 (nineteen years ago) link

He was good as Cohn which sort of redeemed him in my eyes. Otherwise I think Alex is right. Has anybody seen his Richard III thing?

Michael White (Hereward), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Me, of course! Great stuff.

just adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:33 (nineteen years ago) link

I want to see that. Pacino has such great talent and potential that it really irks me when he's a cheesy ham.

Michael White (Hereward), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:34 (nineteen years ago) link

Yes, I think that's the main reason why his suckiness makes me so mad. If he'd always been this way (like Nicholson) it would bother me a lot less (I won't see Nicholson films for the most part, but he doesn't disgust me in quite the same way. . . also he tends not to get roles in otherwise good movies.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:37 (nineteen years ago) link

I sense passion here.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 00:58 (nineteen years ago) link

Passion of the CHRISTGAU

anthony easton (anthony), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 02:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Heat is excellent, but I like The Insider more. And Pacino doesn't puree the scenery around him in that one!

and Repo Man is a FIVE STAR FILM

Heat is an okay movie right up until the point where Robert DeNiro does something totally ridiculously stupid and out of character

It's called LOVE, baby! People do crazy shit in WUV.

nathalie barefoot in the head (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 08:11 (nineteen years ago) link

Falling In Love is a terrible movie right up until the point where Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel stop the film altogether for five minutes so they can do their trademark Mean Streets routine, and after that it goes back to being terrible again.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 08:17 (nineteen years ago) link

WHAT is nathalie takling abt???? i assumed alex was talking abotu when DE NIRO kills that RACIST FUCK.

Also I would just like mention that I watched Sexy Beast again last night and you guys are crazy. That movie is completely average (except for Ben Kingsley who is used pretty stupidly.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 16:54 (nineteen years ago) link

You know how all these people are disagreeing with you?

It's called "being wrong".

just adam (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 16:54 (nineteen years ago) link

How do you deal with being wrong so much, Adam? I was going to ask you yesterday, but I forgot.
