TRIGGERFEST

Is this weekend.

The occasion! Ned R. is in London.

The events! Well, OK, we've not actually worked out that many events. On FRIDAY there is likely to be i) Karaoke at the King Of Corsica on Berwick Street, and ii) a meal. Some crossover between these is probable.

On SATURDAY there is going to be a pub crawl. This will be enormous fun and will - as mentioned on ILE previously - be the occasion for the TRIG BROTHER game (from an original idea by Tim Hopkins). We still need contestants for this. This will kick off at around 2 at a location TBC. The game part will be over by 8 or 9 so anyone on returning trains won't miss the 'climax'.

Details of locations, times, etc. will be posted to these threads over the next couple of days (there's an identical thread on whichever IL* board this isn't). But what I need to know is - who's coming? which days? do you want to take part in Trig Brother?

Cheers!

How will Trig Brother work? What will the Restaurant on Friday be?

marianna, Wednesday, 1 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Does it have to be called Trig Brother? I mean, Frig Brother has a much nicer ring to it.

Restaurant on Friday - up to Ned and Jane. Will liase.

The rules for TB/FB are a bit opaque but it will all be fun and fair- minded.

Frig Brother -- *WELL* ;-)

At this point Kate the Saint has suggested a kick-ass veg curry place in Tooting for Friday night, so that is where Food will be Had. Oh yes. Beyond that will be further craziness, of course, but that is at least where I was planning on starting the evening.

There's also something vaguely in the works for Sunday in terms of a winddown, but we'll see...

Anyway, more posted tomorrow as things assemble themselves.

Tooting to Berwick St = very long journey. Curry houses near Euston to Berwick St = not very long journey.

VITAL TRIGGERFEST ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Pub Endeavour on the Saturday will be the legendary Blue Posts Pub Crawl. We will kick off in the Blue Posts on Newman Street, which will also be our final destination. We'll be there from 2 and the game will begin at 3 - if you're a London-based ILM/E-er then you might well be bugged about turning up! It will be a marvellous day out that you won't soon forget.

Seeing as my sista's Ka has likely died, I may well not be going up-country to cheer my aged foax after all, but kicking around the West End like a beezer. So how does one discover the actual names in order of the legendary Blue Posts Pub Crawl? Or does one rely on legend?

For the sake of not kick-starting the last days I cannot do all ten pubs, obviously. Or seven, or four.

mark s, Thursday, 2 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

The Legendary Blue Posts pub crawl boasts particularly easy-to- remember pub names.

1. The Blue Posts. 2. The Blue Posts. 3. The Blue Posts. 4. The Blue Posts. 5. The Blue Posts.

For the sake of our sanity and feet, we're only going to 5 pubs and evicting 2 per pub.

The BPs we'll be starting in is on Newman Street, up behind the Plaza on Oxford Street. I'll post map details tomorrow when I have a faster link!

Tom, Thursday, 2 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Proposed timetable:

Blue Posts Newman Street: 2-3

(on the corner of Eastcastle St, behind the Plaza on Oxford St)

Blue Posts Bennet Street: 3-4

(Just off St James Street, near Piccadilly)

Blue Posts Rupert Street: 4-5

(Off Shaftesbury Avenue)

Blue Posts Kingly Street: 5-6.15

(Parallel to Regent Street)

Blue Posts Berwick Street: 6.15-7.30

(About halfway down Berwick Street)

Blue Posts Newman Street: 7.30 on

In addition to this there will be people at the BP Newman Street from 4 onwards.

Where are all these places? Here is a map which has the whole area - they are all very close to one another.

Any other info needed?

Tom, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

did we ever find out why there are so many blue posts?

carsmilesteve, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

No, because we never finished the pub crawl.

Tom, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

i'm coming but not till later. (Blue Posts Newman Street: 7.30 on).

gareth, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

It being Friday afternoon the lines between fact and fiction are blurring, but I thought Blue Posts was some kind of ancient hunting boundary thing (as Soho is so named after some hunting cry). Is all this total legend / Pete Baran lies / true?

Emma, Friday, 3 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Is the first Blue Posts the same one we went to for the April (wasn't it?) pub meet?
