can someone recommend me a web host (preferrably uk based)?

i'm a bit of a luddite as far as these things go so any help is appreciated.

the reason i'm looking for a uk based one is that i'm getting reimbursed for the expense and the people doing the reimbursing wanted a uk company so they can claim back the VAT. maybe that is a false economy and i'm better going with a cheaper foreign web host?

i bought the site address from 123-reg.co.uk so i don't know whether this has any bearing on the matter (as i said i'm a luddite as far as these things go) but they do hosting as well so maybe i should just go with them?

the site is design based and is likely to have quite a small amount of traffic and host, at most, 200 or so medium res photos as well as the usual info and links etc. no flash or fancy stuff for the moment.

The VAT thing is probably a false economy, but there are good legal and performance reasons to host in the country in which you do your business.
