Kiev?

Ant Attack |=| (Ste), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:27 (twelve years ago) link

i cant even tell what country that is. the pointy orange thing and two church steeples make me think europe somewhere but that bridge and some of those apartment buildings seem america? wait. is that an amusement park?

Bright Future (sunny successor), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:28 (twelve years ago) link

god it looks horrible. bad shot maybe?

Bright Future (sunny successor), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:28 (twelve years ago) link

hmm, yeah that looks like some sort of fun fair doesn't it

Ant Attack |=| (Ste), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:29 (twelve years ago) link

lil yawne (harbl), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:31 (twelve years ago) link

gabbneb, Monday, 13 October 2008 13:31 (twelve years ago) link

gabbneb, Monday, 13 October 2008 13:33 (twelve years ago) link

minsk

lil yawne (harbl), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:38 (twelve years ago) link

actually we could do this much more easily by working out which eastern european country's dictator-controlled national media outlets have orange as their signature colour

100 tons of hardrofl beyond zings (Just got offed), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:40 (twelve years ago) link

Some bored googling of "cantilever bridge" and "amusement park" has given me the answer, you are all way off.

ailsa, Monday, 13 October 2008 13:40 (twelve years ago) link

doubt it's in the midwest, since there's appears to be a hill off to the right.

Granny Dainger, Monday, 13 October 2008 13:41 (twelve years ago) link

Actually, I think I'm wrong. Never mind.

ailsa, Monday, 13 October 2008 13:42 (twelve years ago) link

ah got it,

Ant Attack |=| (Ste), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:43 (twelve years ago) link

(by doing the ailsa thing)

Ant Attack |=| (Ste), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:44 (twelve years ago) link

I googled "green cantilever bridge" and then got bored of this approach after one fruitless page

100 tons of hardrofl beyond zings (Just got offed), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:44 (twelve years ago) link

No, I was right after all. Hurrah! Shall let the rest of you guess away though. Am assuming Ste got the same result as me. Not Europe.

ailsa, Monday, 13 October 2008 13:46 (twelve years ago) link

is that the pole from one of those rotating observation "rides" there? Are those specific to Six Flags?

ailsa, Monday, 13 October 2008 13:50 (twelve years ago) link

actually i found it with fewer google words "bridge amusement park" do i win even more than ailsa?

Ant Attack |=| (Ste), Monday, 13 October 2008 13:51 (twelve years ago) link

Also, is not cheating, is educational and enterprising and stuff. Honest.

ailsa, Monday, 13 October 2008 13:52 (twelve years ago) link

'the green dome' of spring into early autumn in PA is among its most charming characteristics.

Tbh that's also why I had so much trouble figuring it out-- there are so many towns that look like this.

Not much to offer so far, first pic has sleepy/date. Those last two answers are influencing me to go in that direction too but not with any conviction

In the left, that looks like a seafaring boat? The building on the little hill behind it feels like it might offer something too

Quite a lot of those back-to-backs in Leeds too.

Tim, Thursday, 21 January 2021 09:00 (yesterday) link

Looks a lot like Liverpool

or something, Thursday, 21 January 2021 10:55 (yesterday) link

Wavertree, to be specific

or something, Thursday, 21 January 2021 10:56 (yesterday) link

Just to throw another one in the mix, it could maybe be Salford or another bit on the outskirts of Manchester.

brain (krakow), Thursday, 21 January 2021 10:57 (yesterday) link

It's not Auchtermuchty.

Waterloo Subset (Tom D.), Thursday, 21 January 2021 11:02 (yesterday) link

And yet... the houses look a touch boxy for wavertree. Could be any big northern city

or something, Thursday, 21 January 2021 11:03 (yesterday) link

very familiar but I've never seen corner houses like this before with the ground floor window at the side and not at the front door side.

Two Meter Peter (Ste), Thursday, 21 January 2021 11:31 (yesterday) link

Also that's one house per corner? no back area, weird.

Two Meter Peter (Ste), Thursday, 21 January 2021 11:33 (yesterday) link

Yeah I think Ive only seen that type in Leeds, but I'm not anywhere near as familiar with the housing stock of other big northern towns. (I remember someone who worked in housing there in the early 90s telling me that the vast tracts of these back to backs in north-east Leeds were the highest density housing in Europe; even most of those had little front yards.)

Tim, Thursday, 21 January 2021 11:48 (yesterday) link

If you're right then we've dodged the bullet of having to look at more photos of Leeds.

Waterloo Subset (Tom D.), Thursday, 21 January 2021 12:39 (yesterday) link

Rochdale?
