Thing is, my absolute revulsion for Munchausen's (esp. by proxy) makes some of his actions slightly understandable, although still fairly loopy.

You kind of lose any claim to making a diagnosis when it's based on "I saw him on the telly and he looked well dodgy". I mean that's fine for a debate on an internet forum, but this bloke was actually supposed to be a doctor and his actions had slightly more serious consequences.
