Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 4 October 2007 18:51 (sixteen years ago) link

for me, this is a riddler vs. egghead race.

Will M., Thursday, 4 October 2007 18:54 (sixteen years ago) link

which one (Gorshin, I assume?)

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 4 October 2007 18:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Wow, I don't remember Egghead.

The Riddler was bad-ass.

"Olga, Queen of the Cossacks" was in 7 episodes?

The Yellow Kid, Thursday, 4 October 2007 19:02 (sixteen years ago) link

The iMdb "number of episodes" is totally fucked up, btw.

I remember Preminger's Freeze much better than Sanders'. Lola Lasagne draws a total blank.

Liberace was hoot in the fight scenes. Art Carney's villain was one of the lamer ones. And that's not a complete list: Cliff Robertson played a gunslinger villain named Shame.

The photos here have a Proustian effect on me:

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 19:05 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah the list was really long and I had a hard time picking out who was a villain and who was just some minor cameo/sidekick - I went with the names I recognized

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 4 October 2007 19:06 (sixteen years ago) link

but not Milton Berle?

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 19:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Tallulah Bankhead's last perf (obv the first one I ever saw) :(

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 19:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, Gorshin. That guy was apparently jsut straight-up crazy.

Will M., Thursday, 4 October 2007 19:35 (sixteen years ago) link

THE BOOKWORM, hello. He had a derby with a magnifying glass suspended from it and could read a book just by touching it. That was my DREAM SUPERPOWER as a kid. I imagined running through the library with my hand on the shelves and ingesting the whole building's contents in two bours.

Abbott, Thursday, 4 October 2007 21:40 (sixteen years ago) link

You would rule the world.

Preminger cast his Batman buddies (Meredith, Romero, Gorshin) in at least one of his films, the astounding Skidoo.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 21:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Cesar Romero terrified me as a kid. That scene in the Batman movie where he brings his captor some tea on the shit, I always ran behind the couch.

Abbott, Thursday, 4 October 2007 21:48 (sixteen years ago) link

"astounding"

remy bean, Thursday, 4 October 2007 21:48 (sixteen years ago) link

Oops, on the ship...Cesar Romero just brings out the worst in me. :(

(I almost wrote shit again before hitting submit.)

Abbott, Thursday, 4 October 2007 21:50 (sixteen years ago) link

I went for King Tut because, basically, it's Victor Buono. The casting on that show was beyond inspired.

Matt #2, Thursday, 4 October 2007 21:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Eartha Kitt as Catwoman, for chrissake is there any other vote available?

H in Addis, Thursday, 4 October 2007 22:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Also, the Bookworm was Roddy Motherfuckin' McDowall, so I have to vote for him.

Seymour Cassel as "Cancelled"? Don't remember that at all, and I had my own Batman suit in 1966. Morbius pointed out the same omission I noticed: Cliff Robertson as "Shame." (Which I'd remembered as plain old Shane till I checked.)

clemenza, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:11 (twelve years ago) link

Batman is a must if it's running! One reason to be envious of the unemployed. That is quite a cast...I would have voted Cesar Romero, though. Makes me want to watch his other work.

At the moment you can take in Rudy Vallee, Vincent Price, Joan Collins, Eartha Kitt, cordeblimeys who else?
