HOORAY all right! I was wrapt to hear Yunus won, I remember hearing about him a few years back when he looked around and though wtf am I doing lecturing eco theory when Bangladesh is so poor so he gets out there and does something, institutional change. Sure beats another mindless, pointless bono-geldolf debt relief jaw beating/concert . He looks like a nice man as well!

The massive change his simple idea has brought to thousands of tiny villages and the poor, often marginalized, women who live in them has done more to change lives than any amount of aid money could ever hope. I really hope the free market types and the capitalism champions will not try to co-opt this into a validation of those ideas. It is really quite the opposite of that. But the small industry that each loan creates is a protected and valued asset in each village that has created hope and shows the importance of ideology when viewing economics.
