Living systems theory-what?

I've been abstracting a journal that commemorates the man who brought you Living Systems Theory, and because I'm not a scientist (though I play one on tv) I can't really tell if it's an amazing scientific breakthrough that unifies fields from biology to engineering, or if it's like mood rings and astrology.

Who knows about it?

here's my test for useful science vs fashionable bullshit: does "living systems theory" make any new predictions that are tested and confirmed?

I am talking about James Grier Miller. Of course I know nothing about behavioural science or anything else, and so was prepared to go along with it all, reading the profiles and so forth. It was when I reached an article that talked about a process called Bios, which is identifiable in living things from a hearbeat to the formations of galaxies (don't quote me on the exact wording, I only skim these things) that I began to be suspicious.
