On the other hand, they totaled our car (which we will still have), so we did okay with the hailstorm (unexpected money, v. weird). Also, I'll be the person driving the used (but newer) car very soon. AND we will be getting our roof replaced (so it will no longer be shit brown) and other exterior stuff done.

I still don't want to drive to St. Paul today, though.

I bought a Shadow the Hedgehog PS2 controller for like 35 bucks shipped.

I've never played that game, and I don't own a PS2.

Hopefully the new PS2-USB adapter I ordered doesn't have LAG issues like the POS one i have now.
Because the all trigger-feeling L2 and R2 buttons on that controller will go to waste on the PS1.
It DOES have a more comfortable design and better D-pad, though.

I TRIED to get Incredible Crisis back today. No one was home at my sister's house.

Went back to my house for cocktails. Dan and Jo31 rocked it until a quarter 'till 4 in the morning.

We didn't share as many emberassing stories about Dan as usual, but otherwise a very satisfying evening.

FB's house is adorable. A. and I left at 1 am because we are old (although technically he is a bit younger than Dan, John, and FB).

There are embarrassing stories to be told about Dan? The rest of us, sure...

J031 is fabulous (I expected her to be taller for some reason), Dan looks almost exactly like I remember him, and I still want to know why I'm the only one with threads of grey in my hair.

And Dan issues a public statement about his grey pubes and the whole dirty affair is overplayed and overanalized on 24-hour news channels until another missing white girl story gets refreshed?

Sometimes it is wry, other times it is fly. On bad days, it makes the saints cry.

Eggnog recipe

1 egg (I use pasteurized now because it's safer and they taste the same)
2 Tablespoons sugar
dash of salt
1 cup whole milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Basically, you put that all in a blender, mix it up and serve it. Of course you can sprinkle nutmeg on top and/or add booze.

This makes one serving and is easily multiplied by number of servings desired.

(I'll know no one used this if you are all still the same size after the start of 2007.)

(Dan, if you were here, I assure you, you could have some rum. It's in the cupboard above the refrigerator, for future reference.)

Eggnog makes me violently ill.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but is there a story with the eggnog, or is it just something your body rejects for no reason?

The worst part is that, as usual, I can see what you are saying about the texture, and yet it doesn't change my mind. (Kind of like how I like firnee, this Afghani pudding, that A. says tastes "like a Glade Plug-In." He's kind of right, but I can't help it; I like it.)

Real eggnog is...not.

John, you are hereby inlisted in the semi-torturous task of making a switchbox for all video game systems that I can't get SCART-type connectors for.
Needs 2 large 8-pin DIN(like the rocktron MIDI cable) connectors(female) at least one SMALL 9 pin(maybe??) and for sure at least one of these:

I think that's the same as a PC's serial port if i'm remembering correctly. Some systems don't have RGB outs natively and you have to go into them and create them, or you just have to make the cables, and this end is easier to work with than a DIN connector the size of a PS/2 port.

Can anyone commission John to make random electronic stuff? I'd like a machine that manufactures time, plz. I'd like to think I'd use the extra time to clean up a bit, but realistically, I'd probably just use it for extra study time. And to catch up on movies and tv.

And by assist I'm basically forcing him to help me work through weird dyslexic circuit path problems and find parts.

John doesn't pity me.

This is why I dropped physics so long ago. Extra time wouldn't be worth weighing more. Although I suppose you mean it in a gravity-related way rather than how I'm thinking of it (no, I will not go up another jeans size...).

There was an entire movie about the observation effect and the rapid move of combining physics and spiritual ideas on today. I only caught some of it. It wasn't very well made.
The interviews were good, but the original parts were mediocre bits of film-school symbolism and cheap digital cimematography.

It was called "What the Bleep do We Know?"

(And I admit that part of my reasoning for not going is that hey, I have other plans today and I'm a selfish bitch that way. BUT. Against medical advice...)

Clearly, I'm tired since if I had realized I was doing that, I would have at least chosen someone remotely attractive. And not a Republican. I have standards, you know.

Ned, I'm so jealous of the Malaysian food. My only consolation is that I ate some fantastic flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce for dessert. I'm feeling kind of fat myself... part of why I'm still up. I went to bed overly full of dessert last Monday night and had a dream that I was being trapped into a cave... by a person wielding a pastry bag of frosting.

(I am still tring to work out the spring class schedule thing and hoping to visit, but now must work robbing a bank into my scheme. And lying to A. and saying, "oh, we just ate at Taco Bell..." Details, details.)

October 7 is also the day our friend D0n had his kidney transplant several years ago. Clearly an auspicious day for many. :)

But yeah, I hear you. Going back to school for me has the paradoxical effect of causing me to eat out more (due to the long drive and the fact that my classes are when I should be eating dinner) while I an afford it less.

I hate money, I love money, and I hate that I love money. Argh.

This is bigtime. I've been doing the same (minus the long drive).

On the other hand, eventually you are going to totally out-earn me...
