Actress in Powell & Pressburger films, died yesterday aged 80. I loved "The Red Shoes" as a child and aspired to look just like her.

RIP!

She was a good one.

Oh darn. Well I only know her in "The Red Shoes" and "Peeping Tom", but I love those performances.
Well you do learn a lot from IMDB. "She only made a handful of films, but no one who's ever seen her as the tragic ballerina of The Red Shoes (1948) will ever forget the beautiful, delicate Moira Shearer."
I may get laffed at here, but I do think she was one of the most gorgeous women ever in TRS.

OK, thanks.

When they showed The Red Shoes on TCM a few months ago, the presenter talked about how it almost didn't get released in the US and then turned out to be a big hit- one of the top moneymakers, at least until the blockbuster era. I guess it's time to try and watch The Tales of Hoffmann again. RIP, Moira.

Wow--I was just watching Tales of Hoffmann last weekend with my Dad, watching Moira as Olympia, wondering what she might be up to nowadays.

Moira was a great talent. Fellow ballerina babe/Red Shoes/Hoffmann co-star Ludmilla Tcherina died recently as well, about two years ago.

RIP Moira

Not being a dance fan, TRS and Hoffmann aren't among my fave Archers (and the Shoes' melodrama makes my eyes roll), but adieu Moira.
