fuck 'em, and their in-laws

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:49 (twenty years ago)

With sexy results.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

CRACKDOWN, AT SUNDOWN

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

I'm only joking. I love them really.

Now recommend stuff to do in San Francisco that isn't weird or loud or gay or dangerous or raunchy or interesting or fun.

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:52 (twenty years ago)

They could sit up top of the KOIT tower all day.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:52 (twenty years ago)

I played Shut The Box with my in-laws on Sunday. That is none of those things.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:53 (twenty years ago)

Ummm, Ned - earthquakes.

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:53 (twenty years ago)

I heard the Thong Song the other day and thought of you. Perhaps you should take them to karaoke? (Karaoke is my answer for everything)

beanz (beanz), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

Ummm, Ned - earthquakes.

Then they shouldn't be visiting California at all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

I heard the Thong Song the other day and thought of you.

SO sweet.

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

Things I usually do with Sarah's parents:
1. Go to movies
2. Go to historical areas (with Sarah's dad)
3. Encourage them to take Sarah shopping and leave me home alone so that they can have "together time"
4. Eat

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:58 (twenty years ago)

eating is always a good option

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

movies too, less talk time

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

a good list, actually.

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

things i do with my wifes parents:
1. drink
2. drink
3. drink
4. eat

bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

take them to the deyoung. oh right father in law doesnt' like anything remotely cultured.

er, I'm drawing a blank. they should have come for fleet week again.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

Drive up to the Birkenstock factory. Eat at In-n-Out. Walk across that bridge. Sea lions at Anno Nuevo. Wine country - especially Foppiano, where you can wander around in their vineyards (oh wait, that one's actually fun).

We always take my in-laws to casinos.

Jaq (Jaq), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

you don't know adam's father in law! those are all GAY THINGS!

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:12 (twenty years ago)

except, ironically, for In-n-Out.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:12 (twenty years ago)

Adam's father-in-law is a MINISTER!

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:14 (twenty years ago)

despite what madonna says, that doesn't make him gay

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:16 (twenty years ago)

omg adam is married to someone from 7th heaven

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

Hm. Guess casinos are definitely out then.

Jaq (Jaq), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:19 (twenty years ago)

Walking across the bridge is gay? I had no idea!

Jaq (Jaq), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:21 (twenty years ago)

Walking across a bridge cannot be done without some degree of "mincing".

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

Wine country would be good, only they are WEIRD about wine. They occassionally will order ONE glass of white wine in a restaurant but they will insist on ANNOUNCING that they are about to order a glass of wine and then ordering in a manner like that of a shy schoolboy asking if he can put a dollar bill in a stripper's thong.

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

Tell them it's biblical. That's what my dad's Mathodist minister wife told me when she got completely trashed in Canada.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:43 (twenty years ago)

Regardless, I second In-n-Out. I eagerly anticipate moving to California (7 months and counting...) so that I may avail myself of this fine fast food feast more regularly.

But even that would be gay. Maybe you should just go to Sacramento?

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:44 (twenty years ago)

Take em to a Cal game or the Zoo or the Lawrence Hall of Science. Oh wait take em to the Winchester Mystery House!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

Then take em to In'N'Out.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

A Cal game would be perfect. Also maybe Chabot?

They are staying near Union Sq though.

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

Would they like Chinatown or North Beach? Those are easy walks from Union Sq. And they aren't too gay.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:52 (twenty years ago)

take them to the Lusty Lady.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

Take em to UN Plaza!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

That's a pleasant walk down Market St.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

Haha, my father-in-law once heard that we were staying "in the Chinese district" (his words), and expressed fear for our lives!

(Perhaps he thought we might die fom bad shu mai? Or was he confusing San Francisco in 2003 with San Francisco in 1903???)

Also, I suggested a walk through North Beach and Sarah said "but what about the SEX STREET?"!!!

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:57 (twenty years ago)

nonono his actual words were "the Chinese quarter"!

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 16:59 (twenty years ago)

If you walk down Stockton you avoid "the SEX STREET" completely and you still get some nice North Beach flavor (although it is the HEART of the "Chinese quarter" haha.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

you cant avoid the gay forever, adam

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:02 (twenty years ago)

Oh absolutely, that's practically my motto!

Mun K.E. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:03 (twenty years ago)

Methodist ministers in San Francisco - did someone call John Waters?

Straight Outta the Chinese Quarter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

Have they rode a cable car? You could do that down to Ghiradelli Square. The crime rate is pretty low there.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)

do you have a car? you could drive out to e-40's house.

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:11 (twenty years ago)

I don't think they have! Last time, I drove them up the steepest SF hill I could find (I think on Taylor going towards the Wharf and watched them freak out as the car slowly tilted forward to a 45 degree angle!

I still feel bad about it, but you don't get a drive like that in Indiana.

xp - Vallejo! I'm sure they'd love it.

The Legion of Honor museum has the most fabulous collection of carved jade you ever clapped eyes on.

Aimless (Aimless), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:24 (twenty years ago)

Drive them to the top of Mount Diablo, they should feel pretty safe out there. Nice view on a clear day.

svend (svend), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:28 (twenty years ago)

I played Shut The Box with my in-laws on Sunday. That is none of those things.
-- Archel (slightlyfoxe...), October 19th, 2005 9:53 AM. (Archel)

uh, what's shut the box?

Burger abortion i don't ask it i demand it!!!! (jaxon), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:32 (twenty years ago)

It's a video game about chastity made by the Grand Theft Auto people.

Straight Outta the Chinese Quarter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:32 (twenty years ago)

You get points by picking up hookers and giving them a change of clothes, a bowl of hot soup and a little self-respect.

Straight Outta the Chinese Quarter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

Haha it's like the game Rod and Tod play.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:36 (twenty years ago)

take them to the new cliff house. I know this is my recommendation for everything.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

Yeah! Does the posher place do breakfast? Can you book?

Straight Outta the Chinese Quarter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

downstairs? yes.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

alcatraz!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 18:34 (twenty years ago)

surely they've done these things before though

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

not alcatraz - you have to book a few days in advance

Straight Outta the Chinese Quarter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

i didn't!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 18:52 (twenty years ago)

oh

Straight Outta the Chinese Quarter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 18:52 (twenty years ago)

you can just take a boat out to alcatraz, unless something has changed.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 20:20 (twenty years ago)

we always took people here:

http://www.museemechanique.org/

but that's when it was in the cliff house... i can't vouch for the current location.

muir woods.

it's it.

etc etc.

i'm gonna go be sad now. i need to save some $ so i can come visit the bay area.
m.

msp (mspa), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 20:47 (twenty years ago)

hmmmm... it's it

you can just take a boat out to alcatraz, unless something has changed.

yes, but you stand in line or book ahead for said boat! It's not like you can just get on and paddle!

Straight Outta the Chinese Quarter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 21:03 (twenty years ago)

Right! I was not able to go when I was in SF for this reason.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

i stood in line for like 5 minutes!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

Canadians get ALL the luck.

Straight Outta the Chinese Quarter (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

Haha it's like the game Rod and Tod play.

Haha is it? If you can believe it, we had to progress to Shut the Box because Yahtzee proved too controversial.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 20 October 2005 07:44 (twenty years ago)

There used to controversy over the exact pronounciation of Yahtzee in my family.

robster (robster), Thursday, 20 October 2005 08:11 (twenty years ago)

I've never had any problem getting to Alcatraz either. I went on a weekday both times though.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 20 October 2005 14:22 (twenty years ago)

four years pass...

My in-laws are monsters. I actively hope for their premature mutual demise with the same part of my brain that hopes I'll win the lottery.

Mother-in-law was drunk and/or on valium at my kid's kung fu test on Saturday morning (10 a.m.!). Father-in-law apparently STORMED out of a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos while he was babysitting my son because the 5 year old didn't count his marbles accurately enough.

I can't really say it out loud to anyone right now, but I sincerely hope these white trash pieces of shit fucking die.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Monday, 23 November 2009 11:50 (sixteen years ago)

Sorry ilx. That wasn't some positive shit right there. Just needed to vent.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Monday, 23 November 2009 12:20 (sixteen years ago)

Not good. Not good at all. Can they be kept away from your kids until Thanksgiving is over?

Christine Green Leafy Dragon Indigo, Monday, 23 November 2009 12:27 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, this isn't just Thanksgiving. We regularly interact with them. After last week though, we are definitely looking into hiring professional after-school care, when needed.
