Hi welcome to the Denver thread!

89 degrees today, then! Phew!

and don't the...mountains look great?

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:49 (fourteen years ago) link

isn't this just the Denverest of days?

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:51 (fourteen years ago) link

I was amazed at how flat Denver was.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:51 (fourteen years ago) link

Yes. Amazing.

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:52 (fourteen years ago) link

fuck yeah, man...

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:53 (fourteen years ago) link

I have two cousins that live in Denver! They're reproducing at a rapid rate (though not with each other) and when I was there I went to a big bookstore and a little jazz club.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:53 (fourteen years ago) link

What's that bookstore in Denver? the famous one?

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:54 (fourteen years ago) link

the tattered cover?

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:54 (fourteen years ago) link

oh also was the jazz club DAZZLE, jordan?

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:57 (fourteen years ago) link

that's the one!

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:57 (fourteen years ago) link

their selection of fiction kinda sucks!!

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:58 (fourteen years ago) link

Ichabod's was the best. :(

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:59 (fourteen years ago) link

the tattered cover?

That's the one!

I don't think it was Dazzle, or Jazzle, but it was an unpretentious little bar that apparently hosts a well-known jazz jam every week.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:59 (fourteen years ago) link

sorry, Jer, it's gone away... it's now an emo record store called FIGHT THE MAN or something (can't remember).

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 20:59 (fourteen years ago) link

I love it when they call record stores "Dusty Groove" and bookstores "tattered cover"! There should be grocery stores called "moldy lettuce"!

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:00 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh, it was El Chapultapec!!

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:00 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh, I've never heard of that place!

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:01 (fourteen years ago) link

im surprised at the success of this thread

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:02 (fourteen years ago) link

It was neat!

I'd like to go back, because I sat in there when I was like 18 and suck-ass.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:02 (fourteen years ago) link

Jordan has quite a life, travelling round the world playing jazz, visiting jazz clubs, generally being jazz.

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:02 (fourteen years ago) link

im surprised at the success of this thread

I've already received an email about it!

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:03 (fourteen years ago) link

kyle (akmonday), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:04 (fourteen years ago) link

from WHO, adam?

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:04 (fourteen years ago) link

Jazzling people.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:04 (fourteen years ago) link

No Mandee, at least not well.

I eat pizza more than I play jazz.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:04 (fourteen years ago) link

kyle, i grew up in Greeley, but i haven't lived there in 4 years or so

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:04 (fourteen years ago) link

When I was like 10, the Broncos were my favorite football team -- for no good reason, really. I liked underdogs.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:05 (fourteen years ago) link

kyle!

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:06 (fourteen years ago) link

I bought a bass amp off of eBay from a guy outside Denver and had to drive across four states to pick it up.

Riddle me this: what is the late-night coffee shop that my friends Kerry and Chris always went to when they lived in Boulder?

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:08 (fourteen years ago) link

They have mountains, there, in Denver.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:09 (fourteen years ago) link

was the coffee shop in boulder or denver?

if it was in denver it was probably st. mark's

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:09 (fourteen years ago) link

I spoke to someone in Colorado on the phone at work. They said that they were moving to "Telluride".

what else can we say about Colorado and/or Denver?

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:10 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm pretty sure it was in Denver, but St. Mark's doesn't sound familiar.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:10 (fourteen years ago) link

ooh was it PARIS ON THE PLATTE??

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:10 (fourteen years ago) link

Denver is located on the plains just east of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, which form a dramatic and awe inspiring skyline to the west. The central downtown district is on the east side of the South Platte River, near its confluence with Cherry Creek, approximately fifteen miles from the foothills.

Yes, I have heard of pizza (nordicskilla), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:11 (fourteen years ago) link

denver isn't known for much, but I think this is one fuckin' rad town. i love it here!

there's SO MUCH TO SAY

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:12 (fourteen years ago) link

The cheeseburger was allegedly invented in Denver by Louis Ballast who operated the Humpty Dumpty Barrel drive-in. He applied for a patent on his now famous invention in 1935. It has been speculated that he wasn’t the first person to add cheese to a hamburger, but nobody has an earlier patent, and no evidence to debunk his claim has emerged.[2]

Denver was an important place for the "beat generation." Beat icon Neal Cassady was raised on Larimer Street in Denver, and a portion of Jack Kerouac's beat masterpiece On the Road takes place in the city, and is based on the beat's actual experiences in Denver during a road trip. Beat poet Allen Ginsberg lived for a time in the Denver suburb of Lakewood, Colorado, and he helped found the Buddhist college, Naropa University or the "Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa" in nearby Boulder, Colorado.

the only thing bad about it is.. how left out I feel that I don't like hiking/skiing/snowboarding/or being outside in general

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:13 (fourteen years ago) link

I never knew that you felt this way about Denver, Mandee.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 August 2005 21:13 (fourteen years ago) link

I saw mountains while I was in Denver, but I din't see any mountains in Denver.

haha. thanks homo!

yeah i'm performing as Chants, electronics + live drums, looking forward to it and it would be fun to see some ilxors.

40oz of tears (Jordan), Tuesday, 5 June 2012 16:34 (seven years ago) link

This is happening on Friday, too. Actually, Jordan, if you can make it anywhere else on Friday besides Unit E I recommend checking this out.

i have never seen a forecast high of 104 deg in Denver before :(

i'd venture onto 16th st mall to get an ice cream, but i am afraid i would vaporize just outside of republic plaza.
