The Tooth Fairy Classic/Dud ?

Amber is at the latter stage of 'losing baby teeth', being seven. (Alice hasn't lost any much to her disappointment and manually wiggling of possible loose ones). So, Amber places her tooth under her pillow, and in the morning there's a £1 coin. (Although her friend Abby wanted to know why she only got 20p for hers!).

Anthow, day before last, she did the tooth thing but never mentioned her lost tooth. Naturally, no £1 there in the morning. So, just as we were leaving for school, she decides to write a note, and left it under her pillow...

So, last night I reach under her pillow, and retrieve the tooth and the note, and it read:

"Dear Tooth Fairy.

Please wake me up.

I'd like to meet you!

Don't be shy.

What's your name?

Love, Amber"

Now, what would you do?

(This morning, she woke and went off to school, having forgotten about the tooth/pound/letter, so it's still there)

leave a note back. written in a different scrawl than yours, of course. my mum used to have my grandmother write to me as santa when i was little. it could say something like 'dear amber: i'd love to meet you, but unfortunately that would break all the rules of fairy magic! plus, i have so many little boys and girls to visit!' etc etc
maybe you could leave an extra little trinket behind too, like 'fairy dust' (ie glitter) or something

Well, I was going to do something similar, but Dawn pointed out that she'd end up taking it to school and no doubt some smartkid would go "That's your parents doing that, durr!"

Also, Alice (five, and with all her teeth to come (out)) will be wanting her share of the correspondance).

Basically, if she asks, we'll say what dahlin said in her 'note' above.

dear amber: please keep me a secret from your parents - they are too old and no longer understand

Dear Mullygrub, Ambers parents will always understand. Yours, the Toothfairy.

Possibly the cutest thing ever.

Indeed.

Ian Riese-Moraine has been xeroxed into a conduit! (Eastern Mantra), Friday, 1 July 2005 09:40 (eighteen years ago) link

Right,

So anyway, a couple of days later, she remembers she should have something from the tooth fairy due, so dashes up to her pillow and retrieves the pound coin, with her letter untouched. Dawn tells her "Well, they are very busy on a night, and I think it's against tooth fairy law to leave letters". "But Abby got one!" says Amber. "Yeah, but then she only gets 20p for hers..." say I.
