I didn't have a digital camera, but they had started giving you a CD with processed film. That's my teaching assistant, Dianne, who worked with an autistic boy in the class; we're still friends, I don't think she mind. (She saw the Beatles at Maple Gardens in 1965, and once, while working for the government, processed some tax forms for one of Muhammad Ali's fights when he was still Cassius Clay.)

Probably still my favourite class that year.

Video, not a photo. Me around 36 or 37, in the mid-late 90s (I'm at 0:56:30, and again at 1:30:00). These are outtakes from the documentary Vinyl; the director assembled them into a second film that got a one-time screening at Hot Docs a few years ago, and he posted it up on YouTube today.

Hard for me to watch this. I was still supply-teaching, and had been doing it for so long I was ready to pack it in and look for something else. I was drifting, to put it mildly.

Thanks. I'm not so universal anymore on the idea that music hits you hardest when you're 11 or 12. I think there's still validity to that for someone my age, because you got your music from the radio. Thing are completely different now.

Ok, reaction time now that I've had enough time to peruse the entire thread:
1. I'm relieved not every one of you came across as looking Too Cool for School, because there's never been a point in my life when I've looked anywhere near "cool". So thanks a ton to those of you who posted adorable (or adorably awkward) photos of yourself!
2. It's kinda distressing how much my very first IRL crush resembled a perfect a 50%/50% mixture of young Ned and jel. Bus Pass Jel especially.
3. Michaels White and Jones were STONE COLD HOTTT OMG.
4. IDK if tera's still around these parts, but I love that with her I found someone whose childhood I could instantly find a kinship. My Catholic grade school uniforms looked a LOT like the ones shown in the group photo and Val Verde and Bexar counties aren't that far apart from each other; also, I too grew up surrounded by a significant majority of my fellow Chicanx people!
5. VG, your childhood photos were so precious, and the photo with you and your fiancée is seriously Relationship Goals.
6. I wish I could've seen a lot of the photos that now show up as broken image links. Ah well.
7. Onimo, that haircut in the most recent photo you've posted suited you perfectly.

One more photo of me, this time at my National Honor Society induction ceremony toward the end of my sophomore year of high school, i.e. in the first year of eligibility (according to our school charter's rules). I was delirious with happiness at the time and it shows in the photo, because this had been my main goal since the very first day of high school. My parents, on the other hand.... (It's also crazy to note that out of the three people in the photo, I'm the only one who's still alive.)
