ALSO AGAIN topher grace's venom makeup was one of the funniest things in the world, second only to tobey maguire's my chemical romance makeup.

i'm wholly convinced that if you watch this movie enough times you will understand the meaning of life because EVERYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE EVER was in this movie, somehow.

I totally misread the omelette scene, I was waiting for him to slip on the egg, bash his bonce on the rather nice wooden table and hey presto, nasty evil Harry is back.

Re: the dancing sequence:

Did no one else notice how it kept flipping back and forth between the way Peter thought women were reacting to him (*swoon*) and the way they were REALLY reacting to him ("Who is this nerdy dancing cunt? lol")?

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 15:54 (seventeen years ago) link

yes, that was completely, completely bizarre. i have to say i like cokehead peter parker a lot more than regular peter parker, though.

also i just found this on imdb:
it is george bush's fault that the american flag was in the film

i hate him! when spiderman stood in front of the flag for a couple of seconds i got real angry because i couldnt handle seeing it in the movie. my life was ruined. and somehow i know george bush made the flag appear in the film, because sam raimi is a republican so i know he, bush, the evil oil companies and the evil corporations (who just sit in their big corporate offices being all.......corporationany) all conspired with each other to make that scene happen. GRRRR, if i saw bush i would punch him! and btw, if anyone here claims to hate bush more than i do, then i dare you to say that to my face because i hate bush the MOST. no one hates him more than i do. no one. i wish you would tell me to my face that you hate him more than i do because i would punch you for trying to think you hate him more than i do. im the biggest liberal ever and also the best liberal ever.

Wow.

WHY CAN'T WE EASILY CHANGE SCREEN NAMES HERE

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 15:57 (seventeen years ago) link

the real question is: is Tina Fey a republican?

Don't think for one minute that that omelet wasn't prepared with malicious intent.

I hope that imdb comment was written by Raimi. xpost

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 15:59 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah that's the question i really asked myself especially in relation to spiderman 3.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 8 May 2007 15:59 (seventeen years ago) link

It's beyond credulity. That has to be a joke.

Yeah, I thought that was the best part of the movie.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Also I'd like to thank whomever gave Bryce Dallas Howard a burger in preparation for this movie since she didn't look like a gaunt Gelfling about the face like she usually does.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:03 (seventeen years ago) link

isn't she pregnant? not that i have any idea when they actually filmed all of the people scenes.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:04 (seventeen years ago) link

Really? Didn't know that!

lol celebrities be spawnin'

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah BDH was pregnant during the filming, she had no idea until after they finished all the crane-disaster rescue crap though, ha ha.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Wait, no one noticed that she suddenly had cheeks?

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:48 (seventeen years ago) link

hey man girls can eat five guys too
like tobey is all gonna be "hey do you has a bun in the oven?" on the set

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:49 (seventeen years ago) link

venom joe armstrong tobey would've called her on that shit.

ghost rider, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:50 (seventeen years ago) link

"Bryce, wow! You look like a woman as opposed to the crazed lizard/scarecrow hybrid you usually resemble!"

"Aw, thanks! *giggle*"

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:53 (seventeen years ago) link

what did they do to jessica alba, she looked like shit in that

She did! I wasn't really paying attention at that point and for a moment thought she was Elizabeth Berkley.

ENBB, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:54 (seventeen years ago) link

YES, or the fish-eye woman from the remake of the wickerman.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:55 (seventeen years ago) link

i think bdh looking less like a gelfling had a lot more to do with the 27 lbs of makeup especially in the eye/eyebrow area they slathered on her than whether or not she was 5 lbs heavier than normal tbh.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:56 (seventeen years ago) link

lol tho still tobey had on more eye makeup.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:56 (seventeen years ago) link

I wasn't really paying attention at that point and for a moment thought she was Elizabeth Berkley.

oh wow, harshes

SNAP: troo, Tobey looked like he fell out of a P!ATD video for half the movie

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 16:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Tobey + EVIL floppy hair = NO GO (tho I seem to be in the minority on this one)

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:00 (seventeen years ago) link

tobey's makeover was way hotter than pre-makeover tobey

XPOST HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:00 (seventeen years ago) link

Emo Tobey + Miss Brant would make a hot lovely couple.

Billy Dods, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:08 (seventeen years ago) link

So, everyone in these movies who has actively killed someone else has died, right?

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I try to imagine what might have happened had Raimi gone ahead and replaced Tobey with Jake Gyllenhaal . Would Jake have entered a leather bar as GAY PETER instead?

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:13 (seventeen years ago) link

well, no, considering that he'd still be playing peter parker and not alfred's fantasy gay jake. i don't think raimi would've altered the script to accomodate you, unfortunately.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:14 (seventeen years ago) link

SPIDEY IS THE PEOPLE'S HERO

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:15 (seventeen years ago) link

haha if venom made spidey gay that would've been a much better movie.

s1ocki, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Can you imagine Andrew Sullivan's angry posts though? RAIMI SEZ GAYDOM SPREAD BY EVIL BLACK GOO

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Well, isn't it? Did my health teacher lie to me?

Did you think it was a bomb and then call the police? Or do you not live in Boston?

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:23 (seventeen years ago) link

No way. I immediately felt much safer actually.

iiiijjjj, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:24 (seventeen years ago) link

liked the bit in the french restaurant and some of the early self-centredness

the strutting down the street and showing off in MJ's bar stuff was funny but didn't feel like the same film, in a way

superheroes and superhero stories often rely on coincidence (I don't mind it) but this had a bit too much, for me

some of the jokey bits were strung out too long (the bit w/ JJJ and the girl w/ the camera) and, eventually, some of the mugging and OTT action dialogue put me off, too

I like spider-man and I like sandman (he was sympatheticky but his flashback-anguish and redemption were weak) and it was exciting and looked good, for the most part (few bits that seemed more "unreal" or were a bit too "busy")

good fun but on too long, too many baddies, few disappointing thing and snow patrol at the end

oh, and w dafoe's butler finally telling j franco that spidey was innocent! good help is hard to find

RJG, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 20:34 (seventeen years ago) link

the butler really should've told franco that ages ago, it would've saved the guy a LOT of troubles.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 8 May 2007 20:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, I was kind of like "WTF butler dude, way to wait until the last minute to be of any use! Also where were you in the previous movies?"

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 20:36 (seventeen years ago) link

Franco's revenge plot was kind of a perfect storm of douchey genius though. "BOOM I FUCKED YR GIRLFRIEND, HAW HAWS!"

HI DERE, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 20:37 (seventeen years ago) link

franco's plan:

a) force kirsten dunst to break up with spiderman
b) tell spiderman he fucked kirsten dunst
c) make self a martini
d) wait for spiderman to appear on his balcony
e) ...get his ass kicked????

srsly willem dafoe should've popped back up in the mirror to mention, like, setting a trap for spiderman, or something?

ghost rider, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 20:42 (seventeen years ago) link

The whole Butler thing was really bad. It just seemed so . . . lazy.

ENBB, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 20:44 (seventeen years ago) link

i just don't think he thought any of it out beyond the "it's funny to watch peter crying on a bridge while holding flowers lol" stage.
