I just get the feeling Bush will win just because of the 'war on terrorism' He seems to have convinced enough people.

So how do you think you will feel if he wins.
Then come back next week and post what you do feel.

I'll predict how I feel in a new thread. Then I'll start another thread stating how I actually do feel. Then I'll start another thread reporting the aftermath of my psyche. Because if there's one thing ILE needs it's more US election threads.

Predicted Reactions to a Bush `04 Victory -- A Picture Thread

I will be profoundly depressed.

And this is moot anyway.

I will feel disappointed. I won't lose faith though.

I'll feel relieved there isn't a Democrat in the White House. And then amused at the thought of how bummed Le Tigre and the Beastie Boys are.

I'll be really, really depressed. I can't imagine getting any work done. (Then again, Kerry's victory will probably distract me from work, too!)

Nader's victory will spark the most exuberant and prolific years of my working life.

We're going to know that Kerry won before we even get to Wednesday.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 1 November 2004 04:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Wednesday I'll feel drunk.
Thursday morning I'll feel not so well.
This is probably true no matter who wins.

I will get off a plane and be out of the United States on Wednesday morning (tour). I don't know if the flight crew will announce the election results while we are flying over the Atlantic or not, but it will be the most suspenseful flight ever, ugh. (btw, I have already voted ahead of time, which felt REALLY good)

Drew Daniel, Monday, 1 November 2004 05:57 (nineteen years ago) link

One time I was flying over the Pacific during New Years. I left on Dec. 31st and arrived on Jan. 1st. I had no idea when it was midnight, and the flight crew never said anything about it.

Another time I was flying during an important World Cup game, and the game was shown on the plane's video in realtime. I hadn't realized they could do that.

supercub, Monday, 1 November 2004 06:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Especially if the plane were to fly across a time zone - they'd have to start the game over again, wouldn't they?

Pangolino (ricki spaghetti), Monday, 1 November 2004 06:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah and if I flew across the dateline, then I could know the result of the game before it was played.

Is there any chance of Kerry winning at all? (8am GMT)
Most people are unsure how it all works.

Just Wakened Brit, Wednesday, 3 November 2004 07:46 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't think so, really. But the chances of me being drunk have increased exponentially.

You know how you feel when you're in a building and suddenly a giant bright blue cactus falls through the ceiling, and because it's SO far beyond the realm of anyone's expectation everyone looks at it, goes back to what they were doing, looks again, goes back to what they were doing again, and then, a few seconds later when it hits them that something totally unexpected and improbable has happened, they drop what they're doing, turn around and just stare in amazement? THAT'S how I feel.

Core of Sphagnum (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 07:58 (nineteen years ago) link

This is all so depressing.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 14:46 (nineteen years ago) link

five years pass...

We're going to know that Kerry won before we even get to Wednesday.
