Is Fox News a Tool of Satan?

This morning while nursing a hangover at the local diner i was watching Fox News in the mirror and noticed several things:

1) "LIVE" spelled backwards is "EVIL", and they use the word "LIVE" almost constantly on this channel, so in the mirror this is pretty scary.

2) "LIVENEWS" spelled backwards is "EVILSWEN", and tho its a bit of a stretch u can pretend it actually says "EVILS WIN".

After I saw these I was in the mood to look for more hidden messages, so I looked at what letters in the alphabet FOX is:

F - 6
O - 15
X - 24

Each number adds up to 6. So every time u see "FOX" on the screen it's the sign of the devil. The best part of this is in the upper left corner they have a graphic that fades from "FOX" to "LIVE".

....Or 666 and EVIL????

Fucking hell:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/25/nyregion/25roger-ailes.html?hp
It was an incendiary allegation — and a mystery of great intrigue in the media world: After the publishing powerhouse Judith Regan was fired by HarperCollins in 2006, she claimed that a senior executive at its parent company, News Corporation, had encouraged her to lie to federal investigators two years before. The investigators had been vetting Bernard B. Kerik, the former New York City police commissioner who had been nominated to become homeland security secretary and who had had an affair with Ms. Regan.
The goal of the News Corporation executive, according to Ms. Regan, was to keep the affair quiet and protect the then-nascent presidential aspirations of former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, Mr. Kerik’s mentor and supporter. But Ms. Regan never revealed the identity of the executive, even as her allegation made headlines and she brought a wrongful termination suit against HarperCollins and News Corporation. But now, affidavits filed in a separate lawsuit reveal the identity of the previously unnamed executive: Roger E. Ailes, chairman of Fox News. What is more, the documents say that Ms. Regan taped the telephone call from Mr. Ailes in which Mr. Ailes discusses her relationship with Mr. Kerik.

Fox News boss persuaded fellow executive to 'lie' to federal investigators
Roger Ailes wanted Judith Regan to keep quiet about affair with man shortlisted to head US homeland security department

The chairman of the right-wing current affairs channel, Fox News, Roger Ailes, has been named in court documents as the previously anonymous executive who allegedly tried to persuade a fellow boss at News Corporation to lie to federal investigators over a crucial Washington appointment.

The New York Times reported court documents had become available that for the first time name Ailes as the mysterious executive involved in the allegations. The claims were initially made in November 2007 by Judith Regan, one of Rupert Murdoch's rising stars in News Corporation until she was dismissed the previous year in a row over her decision to publish a book with OJ Simpson.

In her unfair dismissal claim against her former employers, Regan claimed that a News Corporation senior executive had tried to secure her silence during the process to vet Bernard Kerik as the US head of homeland security. Regan had been having an affair with Kerik, and she alleged in her lawsuit that the unnamed executive had wanted her to keep quiet about it during the vetting procedure in order to protect Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor who had appointed Kerik as New York police commissioner and was Kerik's main supporter. Giuliani was at the time considering a run for the White House in 2008 and the revelations could have rubbed off adversely on him.

The identity of the executive has long been a topic of speculation in New York media circles. Now, according to the New York Times, the mystery is solved as Ailes is named in a separate court case in 2008.

The court documents reveal his identity and, even more sensationally, say that there is a tape recording of Ailes's conversation with Regan in which he seeks to secure her co-operation. However, there are no transcripts of the conversation.

Ailes, a hugely controversial figure in the News Corporation firmament who critics say has turned Fox News into a mouthpiece of the right-wing Tea Party movement, has been a friend of Giuliani's for more than 20 years. As mayor, Giuliani officiated at Ailes's wedding.

News Corporation hastily settled with Regan after she brought her 2007 lawsuit, to the tune of almost $11m. News Corporation said the case was closed

I'm a little behind on this story, my wife and I were catching up on some DVR'ed Daily Show episodes and we watched the one about the J. Crew mailer that pictured one of their executives paiting her son's toenails. Obviously this set off the inevitable FOX News handwringing about how upsetting this was and how it was an attack on masculinity, etc etc etc. Anyway, what really struck home with me as a huge example of what's wrong with today's media was that FOX News based a big part of their story on the reaction written in a blog posting on THEIR OWN WEBSITE. So, let me get this straight, you can pay someone to write their batshit editorial on your website, then turn around and report the very same as "news"? I mean, I know this is probably SOP everyday at FOX, but I just had to smdh.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 17 June 2011 13:00 (twelve years ago) link

chavatar (suzy), Friday, 17 June 2011 13:17 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah as long as somebody writes it down somewhere, it creates the illusion that it is already being covered and talked about, so it can be more convincing as news. Neat trick, FOX.

Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Friday, 17 June 2011 13:18 (twelve years ago) link

Being able to cite claims from somewhere, anywhere, creates an illusion of structure and a context.

Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Friday, 17 June 2011 13:20 (twelve years ago) link

I get why its done, just shocked at how blatant it is. Its one thing to report that "this is being buzzed about you guys" and another completely to pay someone to create that very same buzz.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 17 June 2011 13:25 (twelve years ago) link

Sorry I knew you understand why, I was just venting a little because it bothers the hell out of me too. Do you think the anchors and pundits are completely acting (obviously they must believe in FOX's conjured non-issues, but if they are THIS in on it, then they are beyond being able to simply delude themselves and are really just putting on a complete show)?

Like off camera do think they, along with their writers, are like "This'll be good, I think people will buy it."

Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Friday, 17 June 2011 13:41 (twelve years ago) link

It basically makes them more talented as actors than everyone over at Onion.

Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Friday, 17 June 2011 13:43 (twelve years ago) link

Probably. I guess I'm just late to this particular party because I've been ignoring FOX as much as possible. I mean, there are symptoms of this in other big media corporations. With CNN's huge dependence on their i-reporters, or whatever they are calling them, I kind of feel like we are just a day or two away from straight up reporting on news story comments like, "and Palinluvr52 today had the following to say about, what she termed "President", Obama...".

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 17 June 2011 13:43 (twelve years ago) link

In CNN's case, just way to much research of target demographics. Comes off really pathetic and desperate.

Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Friday, 17 June 2011 13:52 (twelve years ago) link

otm

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 17 June 2011 13:52 (twelve years ago) link

For FOX though, I wonder sometimes if they are delusional about their methods a bit. Because their propaganda techniques are so relentless and blatantly self aware, they must really feel passionate about the objective they're trying to achieve through them. Tirelessly trying to scare or rally people in order to get everyone back to some sort of 1950s mindset has to be a lot of work, and they must know they are sacrificing legitimacy to get it. But they probably never step back even a little to say "If we have to manipulate as hard as we are right now, than is there anything wrong with _____ in the first place?"

Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Friday, 17 June 2011 14:04 (twelve years ago) link

Like isn't the amount of effort it takes to get people behind your position just make your position seem more far-fetched and worthless? So they believe in it that hard to drive them to such measures? Or they're just delusional. Trying to figure out a tidy way of making my point...

Wacky Way Lounge (Evan), Friday, 17 June 2011 14:09 (twelve years ago) link

None of what I'm saying is really new of anything, more talking out my thoughts I guess.
