How To Remove a Splinter????

Uh I know this is a dumb question and feel free to delete it after it's been answered.

I work in a warehouse making roof trusses and i have the fattest splinter in my hand that spans about half of my palm, from the base of my inner-thumb towards the top of my wrist. It's really fucking painful, and worse, it's healed over and stuck there for good?!?!

How can I remove the splinter with as little pain possible? I can barely grip my hand, and i just found a load of Trina upskirts on the internet.

I'd ask my girlfriends advice but she dumped me yesterday!!! For no reason at all.

take a needle, burn it with a lighter or match to sterilize it. stick it in your palm and push the splinter out.

work out which end it went in, and then, with a pair of tweezers press and rub the opposite end of the splinter, it should start to appear from the puncture wound. As soon as you see it emerging, grip with tweezers and pull gently. You may have to repeat this if it breaks.

two warnings

1)this will hurt

2)this will hurt

you may want to get someone to do it for you, then you have someone to swear at

What cutty said. Also, put some alcohol (if you have any on hand) on the skin before and after splinter removal.

I kind of like removing splinters.

Tie a piece of string to the splinter, tie the other end to the doorknob, and then have someone shut the door really fast.

put a hot compress on first. not be rude, but did it not occur to you to try to remove the splinter at the time rather than let it heal over?

If your splinter is THAT big, do to a doctor...I'm NOT kidding.

I'm a landscape architect that works around timber and wood daily. Splinters of normal size are an every day problem. However, ones that are imbedded or healed over, need a doctor's office.

My crew foreman tried to remove a 3" splinter that had gone into his arm and healed over. He went septic and had to be rushed to the hospital, losing a weeks worth of work.

Your life is too precious to play E.R. on yourself.
