mm, hand as 'grainy' as the shop floor next to it.

i think she was pretty average as far as guest hosts on SNL go these days
― ⚓ (gr8080), Monday, 12 March 2012 16:58 (twelve years ago) link
yeah pretty much
― some dude, Monday, 12 March 2012 16:59 (twelve years ago) link
i mean unlike say January Jones she at least kind of has an excuse for not being funny on purpose
Average is 'alright' isn't it? Not good, not bad?
Or, are most of the guest hosts bad?
― Mark G, Monday, 12 March 2012 16:59 (twelve years ago) link
most of the hosts are terrible
― thuggish ruggish Brahms (DJP), Monday, 12 March 2012 17:03 (twelve years ago) link
Most of them are pretty bad, imo -- I'm always surprised when a guest is able to work well with the rest of the cast.

i think it's kind of to the show's credit that they don't let the quality of the host dictate how well the show goes THAT much these days imo -- if someone has really limited talents they just build a monologue and a couple sketches around that one thing and then most of the other sketches the cast seems to get more shine and the host just does their little token roles and stays out of the way

in related news amanda seyfried is absolutely killin it in the new glamour
― surm, Monday, 12 March 2012 17:14 (twelve years ago) link
like, beyond
there's some kind of uncanny valley reaction inside me when i see guest hosts on SNL so obviously looking DIRECTLY at a cue card/teleprompter for line after line of dialogue instead of AT THE PERSON they are talking to
like, i am a rational person who understands that these are busy celebrities with only a week to prepare for a live broadcast of what is ultimately a stupid show that doesn't really matter, so memorizing lines isn't important at all. but on an instinctual level it sets off all these alarm bells
― ⚓ (gr8080), Monday, 12 March 2012 17:17 (twelve years ago) link
no one on SNL has actually looked at each other since 1991 at the latest

not even in those vogelchek skits, it's true
― goole, Monday, 12 March 2012 17:19 (twelve years ago) link
i imagine that film actors often end up doing like a couple lines of dialogue over and over in a given day and aren't really that accustomed to memorizing that much dialogue, but yeah you'd think they'd be a little more ready
― some dude, Monday, 12 March 2012 17:21 (twelve years ago) link

I wish SNL had a little pop-up disclaimer at the beginning of every episode stating that lines are being re-written right up to (and sometimes during) air and that everyone is actively discouraged from memorizing lines.

While driving out of the parking lot (in her new Porsche) of Sayers Club in Hollywood just after midnight Wednesday, Lindsay Lohan was reportedly blocked by paparazzi and bystanders around the nearby Hookah Lounge. Lohan, according to TMZ, attempted a 3-point turn, grazing the knee and car of the lounge's 26-year-old manager who was standing by his car. But instead of braking to make sure the man was uninjured, the 25-year-old actress fled the scene "like a mad woman," a witness told a TMZ video reporter.Police arrived at the scene, interviewed the manager and some Hookah Lounge patrons, then left. Sources told TMZ Lohan may have called the cops due to the swarm of paparazzi, which is why they responded.Initially, the manager said he was uninjured and "got up and started smoking his hookah," said the witness. However, after learning of the driver's identity, he reportedly began complaining of an injury and headed to the emergency room. He plans to press charges and hire a lawyer, which will prompt police to open a hit-and-run investigation. If the man is injured, Lohan will have violated her probation (again) in the necklace shoplifting case. Sautner told Lohan during a court hearing February 22, "Miss Lohan, you're in the home stretch." Well, the finish line might be appearing foggier in light of this morning's stunt.

honestly that doesnt seem so bad to me. if she would chill the fuck out with the lip plumping, super-blonding, tanning and alkie bloat, none of which is permanent btw, then she'll look okay again.
what really pisses me off is the disappearance of her freckles. that is the true crime here people.
