I was told by someone this weekend that they don't post to ILX for two reasons:

there are two many in-jokes they don't understand

they don't like the format

If it is an in-joke, I'm not in on it. I just think the threads he or she chose to revive have been more interesting than most of the recent ilx threads.

I like the format as well. If it chases away people who like to add sig files or smiley faces to their posts, so be it.

the format is a little annoying, i'm used to forums that move on their own if you know what i mean *cough spot the computer illiterate cough*

there are a lot of injokes i don't get as well, but seeing as i exist in general confusion it doesn't worry me too much. i don't get x-post - i thought that usually meant it was being posted in two places, but where is the other place? also some acronyms are unique to here i think. e.g. "OTM" i'm guessing it's "on the money" but realistically i've absolutely no idea

thanks teeny! i've got quite a few laughs out of it already.

i actually found it ages ago (someone sent me a link to that bloody hysterical thread where some guy's flatmate was being errrrr thoroughly rogered) but forgot all about it till this weekend.

gem, "xpost"/"x-post" is a signifier that someone has posted while you were writing, so the post you are answering is not the one directly above the post you've submitted. (You can get notification when you hit Submit that someone else has posted while you were writing by checking an option on the Settings screen, assuming you are logged in.)
