Yes, well you could be out helping the poor children instead of arsing around answering 524 questions on the internet.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:14 (nineteen years ago) link

I suspect if someone woos you then you woo them back if you're interested and then they write you a message. It's sort of like making eye contact.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:16 (nineteen years ago) link

There are so many questions on there that don't have how I would answer them as one of the choices, it's really starting to piss me off.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:17 (nineteen years ago) link

Whatever. rjg woo'd my crush and now they are exchanging messages. What does this say?

Carey (Carey), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:18 (nineteen years ago) link

There's a similar thing on my favourite dating site - a wink. You get this smiley thing. I just reply saying thanks, and being encouraging if I like their profile, or not if I don't, as I would with any message, though it gives you little to work with.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:18 (nineteen years ago) link

Regarding that questions thing, here's an example:

Honestly, which has shaped the course of world events more, love or hate?

O Love
O HATE

I want to answer this question with "greed". WTF.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:29 (nineteen years ago) link

in my selfish rage, I deleted my account. Maybe I'll start again, but I dunno.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:35 (nineteen years ago) link

one of my matches says that it might take a month or more for him to respond to people, and adds that more creative messages will see a more timely response. wtf? you're here for my entertainment, pal, not the other way around!

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:40 (nineteen years ago) link

maybe he has to write with pen and ink responses on parchment, and said it by pigeon.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:42 (nineteen years ago) link

What a prick! I still haven't responded to any of my woos or messages except those from people on ILE, so I can't really talk.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:43 (nineteen years ago) link

am making new profile now.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:46 (nineteen years ago) link

I have responded to few, and had few responses. it seems the world is a snobby place.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:49 (nineteen years ago) link

I am puzzled by Jel's attempts to model himself on Sisyphus.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:51 (nineteen years ago) link

That's good, you should put that in your profile, Ronan.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:55 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't know, it's weary enough already, according to N.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:58 (nineteen years ago) link

I actually just meant it's sad (a little bit only) how much better than everyone else everyone else thinks they are.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 10 June 2004 17:59 (nineteen years ago) link

I thought I said 'full of yourself', not weary.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 June 2004 18:00 (nineteen years ago) link

Does 'weary' mean something else in Ireland?

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 June 2004 18:00 (nineteen years ago) link

I think you might have said "weary", though that may have been gareth, on AIM. I apologise if it wasn't you.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 10 June 2004 18:01 (nineteen years ago) link

missing from the first list:

Matos W.K.: spongiex75
Ken Chu: kenjuggle
TOMBOT: tombot
Michael Daddino: JohnAgar
Nickalicious: nickalicious
Trayce: trayceee

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 10 June 2004 18:05 (nineteen years ago) link

I just logged in to find Todd Swiss's picture on the front page!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 10 June 2004 18:32 (nineteen years ago) link

i am now flyingcar

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 June 2004 18:34 (nineteen years ago) link

yes, i did put a new photo up, now its off the front page though, boo for me

todd swiss (eliti), Thursday, 10 June 2004 19:56 (nineteen years ago) link

My matches with the new lists:
Matos 79% (given that he is straight, this is rather high, I'd have thought)
Ken 74% and only 70% friend - this seems low, since we are friends.
Tombot 68%
Michael D 72% (too low, surely?)
Nickalicious 83% (that's more like it)
Trayce 85% (hurrah!)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 10 June 2004 20:17 (nineteen years ago) link

perhaps I should use all my extra woos to woo-stalk someone.

got you all in check (teeny), Thursday, 10 June 2004 20:33 (nineteen years ago) link

Martin, I decided to reanswer the questions in a bit more honest way, and now you're a 95% match for me! I doubt anyone can come up with a higher number than that.

(My username is still "lixenixen", if you want to check it the other way around.)

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 10 June 2004 20:59 (nineteen years ago) link

http://www.okcupid.com/profile?tuid=10998982287741912971

omg! the girl on the front page is transexual!

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 10 June 2004 23:44 (nineteen years ago) link

My best match in the world is a Finnish person who doesn't subscribe to either gender.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 10 June 2004 23:45 (nineteen years ago) link

And no, it's not Tuomas.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 10 June 2004 23:46 (nineteen years ago) link

You have to take out a subscription?? This is clearly where I have been going wrong.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 10 June 2004 23:48 (nineteen years ago) link

Hang on, that 95% thing is insane. I can't get over 93 with /myself/.

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 10 June 2004 23:51 (nineteen years ago) link

Woos are getting me amazing results. I only discovered them after finding out that no-one responds to my messages, so I'm thinking that I need to construct a less poncey internet persona, or something.

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Friday, 11 June 2004 13:44 (nineteen years ago) link

500 woos by sundown.

mark p (Mark P), Friday, 11 June 2004 15:18 (nineteen years ago) link

I have a vague and horrid suspicion that that's a RealDoll. I kind of hope so.

Gregory Henry (Gregory Henry), Friday, 11 June 2004 15:22 (nineteen years ago) link

My top two bi men matches are Martin Skidmore and Tuomas!

Also Teeny was top on my friends match list before. But then I must have answered some questions un-Teeny-like because she disappeared...

Hanna (Hanna), Friday, 11 June 2004 15:22 (nineteen years ago) link

I am
athletic
,
sexual
and
dirty
.

HAMBURGER NEURON GROUP (ex machina), Friday, 11 June 2004 15:23 (nineteen years ago) link

I miss Friendster.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:41 (nineteen years ago) link

Friendster is still there!

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:46 (nineteen years ago) link

Jel probably deleted his account in a fit of self-loathing.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:48 (nineteen years ago) link

I know, I know, but a lot of things are they with us, but it doesn't mean they are the same.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:49 (nineteen years ago) link

nope my friendster account is still there!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:53 (nineteen years ago) link

BlimX0r! The girl I've built up quite a messaging friendship with and is 85% compatible with me studies music in Greenwich, and occasionally in Blackheath. She knows exactly where my flat is!

Should I ask her if she fancies a pint?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:56 (nineteen years ago) link

yeah! you might as well.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:57 (nineteen years ago) link

What if she thinks I'm a creepy internet mentalist?!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:58 (nineteen years ago) link

isn't she too? :)

jel -- (jel), Friday, 11 June 2004 16:59 (nineteen years ago) link

I think you should call her one, first, casually, pre-emptively, and, then, ask her out.

crosspost

RJG (RJG), Friday, 11 June 2004 17:00 (nineteen years ago) link

RJG, yes!!!

HAMBURGER NEURON GROUP (ex machina), Friday, 11 June 2004 17:01 (nineteen years ago) link

is that in response to my woo?

RJG (RJG), Friday, 11 June 2004 17:01 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm really scared. What if she never messages me again?

This is much easier with real girls.
