[Addressing the Clysdale horse representing Budweiser:]
BOB: "My opponent remains silent on this issue because HE HAS BLINDERS ON!"

This ad is one of the funniest examples of selling out that I've seen in awhile. And yes, he gets funnier the louder his voice gets.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 15 April 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw one of these ads at a bar two or three weeks ago. Me and another Mr. Show loving fan both immediately ran to each other to ask if the other had caught it. I didn't get to hear what he was saying but...fuck it, let the man get paid.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 15 April 2004 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

it's too bad. i haven't seen much mr. show, but i have seen some of the dvds of the (FUCKING EXECRABLE) ben stiller show, and he was always the secret weapon there.

Ben Stiller Show kicked ass

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 15 April 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

ok the last episode kinda sucked

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 15 April 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Are we going to have another Mr. Show/Ben Stiller Show war? (Because if so, the latter, easy.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 April 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Good for him, it's criminal that David Cross gets the kind of recognition he does when his more talented partner is mostly ignored.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 15 April 2004 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

xpost: lunacy. well, i don't know, mr. show might very well be worse.

g--ff (gcannon), Thursday, 15 April 2004 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never seen Mr. Show but these commercials are dumb. I had no idea the "candidate" was actually supposed to be anything other than some lame commercial actor. I don't feel compelled to investigate further. His voice grates.

Broheems (diamond), Thursday, 15 April 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, i was at this bbq place down the road "flirting" with this redhead bbq beyonce type (my own version of jessdrama, only i'm not gonna try to plant one on her cuz i try not to take my cues from corey haim in lucas), and i saw odenkirk on tv and i thought 'wait - which mr. show was this?' only it kept flipping back to the show that was actually on so i accused the girl of changing the channel only she didn't why because it was a commercial. i am going to die alone.

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 15 April 2004 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

mr. show is obviously better than the ben stiller show, and anyways, odenkirk was born in my hometown, its not a coincidence.

todd swiss (eliti), Thursday, 15 April 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Bah Bodenkirk

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 15 April 2004 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

best standup routine ever on comedy central: bob odenkirk doing jokes stolen from bazooka joe comics, then doing his one-man show of abraham lincoln: "what the hell have I been drinking...oh my god. it's turpentine."

Wonder if he’ll ever do standup again

calstars, Monday, 18 June 2018 14:36 (seven years ago)

when did he last do it, December?

he's part of a live tour this summer.

I *just* realized he has an incredibly obscure extra part in Waiting For Guffman. Non-speaking, just a quick pan-by and he's in heavy makeup/costume.

I guess his scene ended up on the cutting room floor:

That’s not on the DVD is it? Haven’t watched it in ages.

Boring, Maryland, Thursday, 16 July 2020 13:38 (five years ago)

It's not. Supposedly came from a VHS of the workprint that the uploader obtained somehow.

No interest in Nobody when it came out, but a friend said he'd watch the second season of Fargo if I watched this. (Actually, I think the order there should be reversed.) God, I hated it. Taking Bob Odenkirk, who's been great and funny in just about everything I've ever seen him in, and turning him into this grim-faced action hero has to be the stupidest idea Hollywood's ever had, outside of the billion dollars it and the sequel have evidently made.

clemenza, Friday, 19 December 2025 15:30 (five months ago)

I've never seen it, but I can appreciate "becoming an action movie hero" as a another thing checked off of Odenkirk's bucket list.

This Thrilling Saga is the Top Show on Netflix Right Now (President Keyes), Friday, 19 December 2025 15:45 (five months ago)

I like seeing him succeed in such an unexpected context, I just hated the movie as a movie.

All this is bullshit until we finally get COUPON: THE MOVIE

Nobody was awesome.

Nobody 2… not so awesome.

Lady Sovereign (Citizen) (milo z), Friday, 19 December 2025 17:51 (five months ago)

That trailer! The first season of Fargo, then halfway it turns into Nobody. But at least it looks like Odenkirk still gets to be funny.

clemenza, Friday, 19 December 2025 17:53 (five months ago)

Yeah, Nobody is one of my least favorite movies of recent years as well. Many moments of of course the white guy keeping to himself on a city bus is going to get harassed by a group of thugs, etc., just paranoid-of-imminent-danger vibes, made for a suburban audience (as I remember it, anyway).

But, similar to what President Keyes said, if I were an actor of his stature in his 50s, I completely understand how having world-class physical/MMA training for a role could feel really good.

(Also, as a native Minnesotan, the accent is off in that trailer voice-over!)

the way out of (Eazy), Friday, 19 December 2025 18:07 (five months ago)

i hope he’s making lots of money but i’m not watching any of this shit

budo jeru, Friday, 19 December 2025 20:00 (five months ago)

nobody 2 was terrible. every unfunny comedy action movie trope piled up like a pile of poo.
