The first few episodes of this season were horrible, but it has really heated up with the last few episodes. But it kills me that Lena Olin is not going to be on anymore.

season two has just been moved from saturday evening to after midnight on sunday here in england.

i wish they'd stop with the convoluted plots and just have sydney play dressup for the entire hour, that's the only reason people watch it after all.

koogs more or less otm re: what I disliked about S2. JJ took himself and the show way too seriously last year and put too much emphasis on the despicable Von-Syd ship. That they hooked up so quickly means JJ forced the ship (in yet another example of his instant gratification mentality -- build up? What's that?). "Ohh now is the time where I get all heavy with the personal relationahips where I show everyone how sophisticated I am!" Pile on the fact that Vartan's acting chops gets routinely schooled by Syd's lips, and I HATE VON.

In any event, Syd-Von detracted from the meat and potatoes of the show: stupid suspense. Witness the Vegas episode in S1, where in the middle of Syd's misison she virtually hangs Dixon out to dry while she sees to the pressing matter of her roommate getting hitched to a two-timer. An absolutely absurd moment incredibly thrilling in its illogical likelihood.

And the first several S3 episodes were vintage Alias, and only recently has it cooled off.

In case anyone wondered where o where our ALIAS went, it's on the horizon (January 2005), rationale: instead of teasing/frustrating its audience with a fall season of episodes repeatedly interrupted by American football, ABC chose to bring ALIAS back Spring '05 and air episodes on a more regular basis.

I disliked his character in Never Been Kissed - the ew factor of him rather intentionally going after what he thought was a sixteen yr old girl and then being totally devastated when he found out she was his age was rather off-putting. Or, at least, the presentation of this story as somehow romantic did.

I like him better in Alias. The first season at any rate.

I actually really like fictional situations like this where the reset button has been applied but the acutal status quo is vastly different because the interpersonal dynamics have changed (assuming I haven't become sick of the characters). I haven't really watched the show since the first season so this is totally great for me.

another series started here in england the day before the recent thread revival and i thought that was about this. took about 12 posts to realise it was a different series - all the convolutions seem to be have come around on themselves and i can no longer follow it from one week to the next. still, syd's costume last night was some kind of sexy chemistry lab technician thing, bob, glasses, stern expression, so that was ok.

The funny thing is, I was addicted to Survivor for the first season, but then dropped it. I started thinking about how they don't even start editing until the winner is declared. So they can play around with your perceptions of these people. They've probably got enough footage that they can make any of the contestants look like a jerk or an angel or lazy or a control freak, etc. They probably left a lot of exculpatory footage of Richard Hatch on the cutting room floor. How could anyone be such a jerk? I felt MANIPULATED. I decided that if I was going to be manipulated it was safer to stick with out-and-out make-believe, rather than deceive myself that I was observing anything "real."
