My grandma used to drink tea out of a saucer sometimes, so a dearth of cups wouldn't have bothered her much.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Bland as it may be, sliced bread is still a boon to people, like me, who are too lazy to slice their own bread.

In fact, I want mine pre-buttered as well. If we can put a man on the moon etc. etc.

robster (robster), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:35 (twenty-three years ago)

if it's possible to make a machine which makes sandwiches (as I assume it is, judging by the huge no. of packed sarnies which are on sale) then how abt a portable, domestic version? Friends who volunteer to make sandwiches for the local homeless shelter (they do several loaves at a time) would appreciate this I'm sure.

A few years ago, three men were discussing what each thought the most
wonderful advancement was in technology.

One said... "Oh, by all means it is the telephone. I can talk to anyone,
anywhere, anytime I chose."

The scond said... "No, no... it's the televison. You can see what is
happening at any time, anywhere in the world, as it is happening!"

The third man chuckles and says... "You are both wrong... the most wonderful
thing in modern technology is the Thermos bottle."

Agast, the other two look at him and say..." The Thermos?? You have GOT to
be kidding... All it does is keep hot things hot, and cold things cold..."

The third man smiles back and says..." Yes!! But... HOW DO IT KNOW???"

or it could be the computer, the artificial heart, the internet... so hard to choose a greatest.
