C.A.R.E. Packages

My mother sent me a package of random stuff "cause there's a war on".

  • Two jiffy bags of chocolate chip cookies (slightly crushed) - you know, cause of English war rations.

  • A water bottle (empty) in the shape of a Powerpuff Girl.

  • Bandages. Powerpuff Girls themed bandages, in fact.

  • A map of New York State. You know, in case I need to find my way back home.

  • A disposable camera. To "take pictures of myself" - I suppose so if I die, she can remember what I look like.

  • Oh yeah, a birthday card. Twee as f@ck, featuring singing kittens and dalmations.

Have you ever been sent a bizarre Care Package, and ifso, what was in it?

And if you were going to send a Care Package to a loved one, what would *you* put in it?

It's my birthday in another 9 days. But you know transatlantic post...

I'd send packages of french tintin biscuits to everyone.
Tho', I would probably be the only one to survive on them.

So, if it's your birthday, here's some cookies for Kate.

thankfully my mum (she of the sequinned baseball cap and gold lame jacket) only ever sent me money

Thanks, Erik! That's lovely! I hope the biscuits last until the 10th, though... I know that my mum's cookies won't! Yum!

My mum will shortly give me a dubious t-shirt and some bermuda shorts. She thinks one simply *has* to buy bermuda shorts in California.

The last care package I sent had Dunkin Donuts hazelnut coffee, some tins of lemon drops, a Windtalkers DVD, a goofy card, a VHS tape of a Nova show, and some other silliness.

My mom never sent me any care packages when I was in college, despite dropping lots of hints. My grandma, though, used to send AWESOME chocolate chip cookies. yum.

I love getting care packages (hint hint), and I love sending them to long-distance friends. Usually the packages I send consist of a mix CD and whatever goofy pop-culture detritus I have lying around my house. Once I sent a friend a box with a couple of CDs cushioned by two large bags of fresh saltwater taffy. He was most appreciative.
