Hypnosis is the reason I'm a successful, confident, happy, non-smoking go-getter!

Does this crap work at all? I just hypnotized myself TWICE to quit smoking via an mp3 I downloaded. I followed that by having 2 cigarettes about an hour later. I did not feel nauseous when I put the cigarette to my lips, nor did I vomit when I actually lit it. These were 2 things that were supposed to happen, damn it!

I have severe doubts that I could be made to cluck like a chicken or strip in front of a large audience.

Thats a crock of BS. I used the patch for a week 21mg, for 24 hours. Gives you great dreams, then I switched to the Commit lozenge 2mg lozenge a week later and am now 1 month smoke free.

Hypnosis and the like may have subtle effects, but certainly not the superdramatic fix-yr-life sorta results that are sometimes promised. Good luck with quitting smoking.

If hypnosis is going to work, my feeling is that an MP3 is not its best medium.

But, TWICE I played it. TWICE. Actually, the guy says to listen to it twice a week or at least twice a month.

in my opinion, hypnosis will work if you believe it will
i know a really heavy smoker who was always trying to give up,decided hypnosis would work, and it did
if you are cynical about it i cant see how it could work

Me too. I recommend getting a non-smoking role model. Mine is Theresa in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (ie. Diana Rigg).

do you find yourself compelled to mail checks to an unknown address?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 25 March 2003 01:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Spencer, not really, but there is a period of I guess an hour or so I can't recall and which can't be accounted for. When I took an evening shower, I noticed some jewels in my pocket and pulled a condom out of my ass, but I didn't really think anything of it until now!

Well put, Martin.

Hypnotherapy worked for me - hypnosis was only a small part of it. I did the Allen Carr method.

£130 quid or so, but it's been over three years now and I have absolutely no desire to pick up a cigarette again (quite the opposite, in fact).

It is a form of brainwashing, but in a good way.

James Ball (James Ball), Tuesday, 25 March 2003 11:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Scaredy Cat, you should avail of the services of an EVIL hypnotist.
