There was an old amateurist post on a recently bumped bluegrass thread that I read the other day that was very well-written and informative

huh. amateurist is someone I've sort of associated as a lifer with the site whose posts I always enjoyed, and I didn't realize his last post was in Feb 2017. very early into the Trump era, which I seem to recall was doing a number on his sanity.

i'd hate to think he got chased off by the small coterie of haters who dumped on him pretty hard for a while because he refused to condemn French laws against religious garb in schools as virulently as they thought was required. their rhetoric got very personal and nasty.
