David Soul was a guy who had a lot of acting chops. Weirdly my first exposure to him was as one-half of a psychotic bank robbing duo in the TV film In the Line of Duty: The FBI Murders. The other psycho was Michael Gross! They were both superb and the final shootout is genuinely intense and bleak.

I remember years ago Guitar Player did some kind of '100 Greatest Guitar Players' list, and Jerry Miller was slightly above Eddie Van Halen, which elicited howls of protest from the VH faithful ("Who the fuck is this?" etc.) but I think they were right

I'll always remember her in that film writing a letter to her soldier lover as she reads it in voiceover and mails it, something very haunting about that scene.

Wonder when it will be time for me to watch that one again. That whole movie is a classic combination of elements about childhood, cinema and adult repression.
