I was in NYC on my birthday in 2015 and one of my best friends (who lives there) asked me if I wanted to see the Sargent show at the Met with her. She’s into art, yeah, but she never seemed to type to want to see a Sargent show. Anyway, I agreed and when we met outside the museum, she told me she’d already seen the show twice and that it was her favorite show of the year— and then we went in, and it totally blew me away.
