Having lost a classmate last week aged 51, my immediate guess is a cancer of some kind, but I've no idea.

reeling from that - he was only 49. him, birnie and friebe had such a great interplay - it was like eavesdropping on friends chatting about your favourite sport, replete with gentle ribbing

rest in peace, RM

i really loved the Cycling Podcast, def added to the enjoyment of the Tour De France every year. I had been meaning to read his book too :(

yeh I'm gutted by this, he (and Lionel and Daniel) was a constant companion over the years via the podcast.
his book Slaying the Badger is amazing, one of the best sports books I've read.

Thanks to you all for your kind and sweet messages and remembrances of #EstelleHarris. She would be so touched. As am I. And as she would say, “WHY CANT YOU BE MORE LIKE LLOYD BRAUN!!??”

Man who spent 19 years in a coma before regaining awareness dies at 57 But got another 21 years of consciousness (quite a mixed blessing since Nov. 2016, at least, but still): warning: incl. pic of him in coma--as in all other coverage I've found---but also incl. link to BBC coverage of his wake-up in '03, with more backstory: https://www.yahoo.com/now/man-spent-19-years-coma-175157771.html

Journalist/critic John Swenson died on March 27. Many of us likely know him best from the 1979 and 1983 Rolling Stone Record Guides which he co-edited with Dave Marsh.
