it's become pretty much my favorite thing on the internet lately, oddly soothing, quotidian and mysterious at the same time. and created by ilxor lag00n, of course.

things i have learned are that fries in baskets are way more universal than i thought, pizza and fries are literally everywhere, and, i don't know, food and restaurants are good i guess.

i'm still waiting for it to hit somewhere i've been but it seems to weight all countries equally regardless of size so the odds are low for the US (whereas sometimes you'll see repeats in like, Mauritius)

scanning through the gitlab repo, i'm not sure if someone has fixed or submitted a fix for this but if you want to avoid duplicates, you can probably run a check if the restaurant has been logged in the last N minutes or milliseconds, and if it has, it can try for another one. i assume this will slow things down a bit, though, depending on how many restaurants are posted per N minutes or milliseconds

also, the repo mentions it doesn't display anything from china, but i was just browsing the twitter account and saw a couple from china. i guess he must've fixed this

just checked back in and found the closest call yet, a Five Guys in the closest strip mall to my parents house. ive been to the bakery that was formerly in its spot but not the five guys, which opened shortly after i moved out
