basketball on radio sucks because the announcers are constantly playing catch-up and the audible reaction of the crowd often tips off what just happened before they can spit it out.

xxxp - the baseball stadiums of my youth that were a bit shit are missed. Now panels are everywhere instructing people when and how to cheer, every half inning is an advertisement, there's never a little bit of quiet from the PA announcer exhorting you to go buy a Dodge after the game.

I don't think it's accurate to say football/soccer isn't popular in America, that has changed a lot. the MLS has a big fanbase and obviously youth soccer has been huge for a long time. Minnesota United opened a big new stadium a few years ago and it's pretty much always sold out
