Bonus points if, like Leto, they're a method actor. His appearance in the Blade Runner sequel is what flipped it from mediocre to unwatchable for me.

Interesting that Bloomps is now the subject of two different ILX memes

Leto was fine in Fight Club and Panic Room, sort of a nonentity in BR2046, but he didn't bother me. A hateful cult like tech guru seems appropriate for him and he didn't damage the film.

Yeah his complete malign blankness actually works in that role IMO

I didn’t watch Dallas Buyers Club for many reasons but maybe I’ll hate watch it, for research

leto is terrible in numerous ways but i did think his awfulness struck a tone that fit his character and the general chordal voicings of BR2046. i also think he was fundamentally perfect as jordan catalano
― ivy., Monday, 1 January 2024 19:07 (four months ago) link
however i will never watch dallas buyers club!!! hated the director (rip tho) and have no interest in leto's performance

real outrage potential
Years ago my friend brought me some bootleg DVDs from Japan and one of them was Closer, which was dubbed into Japanese with English subtitles. I watched about 20 minutes of it and was impressed by how bizarre the dialogue was, and how experimental the whole thing seemed. Then I realized that the subtitles were from the movie The Piano. Anyway that version was Clive Owen’s finest hour.

Haha. Paul Giamatti: "I want to lie together without clothes on."
My concept of "worst film" dances well with the concept of this exercise, I am more-revolted by well-made (and successful/celebrated) pieces of shit than I am by demonstrations of ineptitude (that D&D movie with Jeremy Irons, Thora Birch and Marlon Wayans is the most-inept but I can't say it enraged me)

I know the meme the last couple days on Film Twitter had been the supposedly awful run of Best Actor Oscar winners over the last dozen or so years, but Leto in Dallas Buyers Club is without question my least favorite acting Oscar winner ever

Gal Gadot surely warrants mention.
just catching up on thread but ^^. it's like she puts the stress in the wrong place on every word.
Also I don't think I've ever actually watched a whole movie with him in it but every clip of Harry Styles' acting I've seen looks absolutely terrible

Paul “laurence o’toole olivier” Walker is safe as houses, safe as 100 acre RuPaul purchases, don’t worry, he is Othello, he is Hamlet, he is King Lear, he is Aaron Sorkin’s fuckboy, he is safe. Consider Les Autres

Radcliffe seems like a smart, cool dood who gets to do whatever crazy, idiosyncratic niche things he wants for the rest of his life, having made Oprah money before he was even 18. Can't imagine why there would be resentment

I mean, no-one is saying that he can't learn the lines, like Bloom it's his first and most vital qualification for us knowing who he is, if the question is "can he learn the lines" then the points could be easily given.

She had a critically acclaimed turn in “Maid”, recently. I always liked her, despite her confoundingly bad acting chops; Minnie Driver was a slightly better actor but has none of Andie’s odd charisma

Driver is a typical product of the UK private school system i.e an irritating, entitled af personality and full of shit, and this completely permeates her acting style. I still like Groundhog Day, don't like anything I have ever seen Driver in.
