I am amused that thanks to Coronavirus, Phase 4 will feature a few years with 4 films, much as the previous phases had 1-, 2- and 3-film years.

Can I axe you people something? Why is Spider-man even called Spider-man? I get that he was bit by a radioactive spider, but his only powers or features that have anything to do with spiders (the web shooters) also have nothing to do with being bit, they're just tech devices that anyone could use. But his other powers - like sticking to walls, his so-called "spider-sense" (aka a heightened nervous response, agility, strength, etc. - are not unique to spiders. Whereas some of the things that *are* unique to spiders, like eight legs, or sucking the life out of prey, or poison or whatever, are *not* powers he has. I mean, Ant-man can shrink to the size of an ant and talk to ants, the Falcon has wings, Dr. Oc has multiple arms, Rhino dresses like a rhino, and so on, they're all pretty literal minded. But Spider-man? It's a pretty confusing moniker. They should probably change it.

Maybe he's just been different sizes of geckos all along. Also, he can't stick to things like geckos.

But, like, if Ant-Man developed tech that let him stick to things, then sure, he could be Gecko-Man.

I lolled.

He's Spider-Man because his spider-centric powers were triggered by a bite from a radioactive spider. For a more detailed explanation, consult the works of J. Michael Straczynski but don't say that you weren't warned. Once you come across the term 'spider totem' you might not be able to crawl back out of the rabbit hole.

But he doesn't really have any spider-centric powers! He has kind of generic bug/insect powers, but the only really spider-y thing about him is the web slingers, and those did not come from the spider bite.

Has there ever been a Spider-man that wrapped baddies up in webs and then drained the life out of them with their fangs? There should be.

I think some of the movies actually had him generating webs from his body, from (I guess) glands on his wrists.

I mean, when you think about it, how "incredible" really is the Hulk after all? Wouldn't you say he's more "grotesque", in the "comically distorted" meaning?

Holy shit, Spiders-Man is incredible. If you think about it, that's kind of an instance of spiders being given the powers (shape?) of a *man*, the reverse Spider-Man.

So was looking for an old post of mine from ILM and found this, New Mavel films which may have been the first post on ILX re the MCU

obviously I misspelled Marvel, but was interested to see the initially planned/announced films such as Shang-Chi (which obv has ended up being what 15, 20 movies on?)

I do not trust this review

I trust that review but only insofar as his descriptions of the show are accurate representations of just how not funny it is.

The fact that this was actually made by the Robot Chicken animation studio kinda seals the deal for me to the extent that the deal wasn't already pretty much sealed.

I find a lot of Robot Chicken funny but most of it is due to Seth Green afaict
