it's quite amusing to see Kinnock trending again and becoming an unwilling pawn in a culture war where nobody actually gives a shit about him!

Between this and the amount of slap he had on yesterday, he was very gracefully ageing Duran Duran.

If you were all looking for a bit of light relief Larry Elliott has written about the potential for a property crash.

As soon as it is confirmed Brooker and Iannuci luvs Labour again, a golden era of hilarious effusive swearing shall begin

Just saw Charlie Brooker dunking on Matt Hancock. Must have been galling for Brooker to have voted for him

Can't stand LedByDonkeys, but if they can continue to restrict their activities to petty trolling I might change my mind. A bit.

Dominic Cummings being described as part of a self-serving and out of touch elite - uluv2seeit.

... just been described as such, more or less, by Peter Bone LOL.

the fact that you can't model for the effect that this will have on behaviours could be used as a good example of the limits of modelling

while the city bleeps (Matt #2), Sunday, 24 May 2020 15:28 (three years ago) link

it would be awful if boris suffered a fatal covid-related pulmonary embolism in front of the assembled press pack

This only goes two ways, I think: a big defence which burns the entire public health message away trying to defend the indefensible and so ends up literally killing people, or a sacking.

If it is a sacking then the questions all become “what did you know and when, PM?”

(I guess he could also try a “poor Dom hounded by the unfair campaigning press” but that move just doesn’t work when the people are against it. And this isn’t abstract expenses. People have absolutely gone through the exact same scenario Cummings did, and chose differently)

stet, Sunday, 24 May 2020 15:40 (three years ago) link

Can't imagine he would announce the sacking of Cummings on live TV. So...

nashwan, Sunday, 24 May 2020 15:43 (three years ago) link

could try to kick it into the long grass w/some sort of inquiry nonsense too I guess

Wuhan!! Got You All in Check (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Sunday, 24 May 2020 15:50 (three years ago) link

Anyone expecting Dominic Cummings’ sacking, or en even an inquiry, at 5pm from Boris Johnson is going to be disappointed. I’m told the PM believes it’s “case closed”.

— Tom Newton Dunn (@tnewtondunn) May 24, 2020

stet, Sunday, 24 May 2020 15:51 (three years ago) link

Non-public enquiry delayed to 2021 seems likely, the lid's rattling the Cummings pot too loudly to be quieted by any more bullshit. Don't quote me on that though.

no sacking, no resignation, Johnson is taking this one to demonstrate that he's backing Cummings
